Project Management Coordinator Jobs in Mississippi: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a project management coordinator in Mississippi?
Mississippi does not require a state-issued license to work as a project management coordinator. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in business administration, construction management, or a related field, along with a credential like the CAPM or PMP from the Project Management Institute. Candidates who combine that foundation with hands-on experience in construction, healthcare, or defense contracting are the most competitive in the Mississippi market.
Which companies hire project management coordinators in Mississippi?
Mississippi project management coordinator roles are posted by Enterprise Mobility, Singing River Health System, and CVS Health and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Defense contractors along the Gulf Coast, healthcare systems in the Jackson metro, and construction firms working on state infrastructure projects are among the most consistent sources of coordinator openings.
Which Mississippi cities have the most project management coordinator jobs?
Jackson, Gulfport, and Pascagoula have the most project management coordinator openings in Mississippi. Jackson leads because of its concentration of state agency offices, healthcare networks, and corporate headquarters, while Gulfport and Biloxi benefit from major defense and shipbuilding operations at Ingalls Shipbuilding and nearby federal installations that generate steady coordinator demand.
Are there remote project management coordinator jobs in Mississippi?
Yes, and they're more common than in many fields, since coordination work is largely documentation, scheduling, and communication-based. About 38% of project management coordinator openings tied to Mississippi are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of the role. Tasks like vendor communication, reporting, and timeline tracking are the most frequently performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a project management coordinator in Mississippi with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from an administrative, operations assistant, or scheduling coordinator role at a Mississippi employer in construction, healthcare, or state government. Large Mississippi health systems like Merit Health and University of Mississippi Medical Center post coordinator associate roles suited to candidates without formal PM experience. Earning a CAPM certification and building a portfolio of small internal projects, such as process improvement initiatives, gives early-career applicants a concrete edge over unqualified competition.
Where can I find and apply to project management coordinator jobs in Mississippi?
You can find and apply to project management coordinator jobs in Mississippi on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state right now. Search the listings, find roles that match your background and preferred location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
