Project Team Leader Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a project team leader in Texas?
Most project team leaders in Texas enter the role through a combination of a bachelor's degree in business, engineering, construction management, or a related field and several years of progressively responsible project work. While Texas does not issue a state license specific to this title, earning a Project Management Professional certification through the Project Management Institute is widely expected by mid-size and large Texas employers, particularly in energy, construction, and technology sectors.
How much do project team leaders make in Texas?
Project team leaders in Texas earn a median of about $98,440 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $57,460 for the lowest 10% to over $162,780 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire project team leaders in Texas?
Employers hiring project team leaders in Texas right now include Garver, American Eagle Outfitters, and Whole Foods Market, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy companies, defense contractors, and large health systems means demand stays consistent across both technical and operational project roles throughout the year.
Which Texas cities have the most project team leader jobs?
College Station, Dallas, and Houston have the most project team leader openings in Texas. Houston's density of energy and engineering firms drives a large share of postings, while Dallas anchors technology, finance, and corporate operations hiring, and Austin's fast-growing tech and semiconductor sectors have steadily added project leadership roles over recent years.
Are there remote project team leader jobs in Texas?
Yes, and they're more common than in many comparable roles. About 0% of project team leader openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the coordination, reporting, and stakeholder management work can be done off-site. Fully on-site requirements tend to apply to construction, manufacturing, and field operations roles rather than technology or business process projects.
How can I get hired as a project team leader in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for project coordinator or project analyst roles at large Texas employers in energy, healthcare, or technology, where structured onboarding exists for early-career candidates. Companies like Texas Health Resources and major engineering firms in Houston regularly post associate project roles that develop leadership skills over time. Earning a CAPM certification before applying and building a portfolio of any volunteer or academic project work gives candidates a measurable edge when competing against more experienced applicants.
Where can I find and apply to project team leader jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to project team leader jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings updated regularly. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
