JOB SUMMARY:
The Public Relations Specialist is responsible for managing the media narrative across our healthcare network. This role builds relationships with local and regional media outlets, and designs/executes media campaigns designed to inform and educate the community about the organization’s news and major milestones. This role also helps strengthen the relationships with community organizations including area Chambers.
Core Responsibilities
- Media Cultivation: Establish and maintain strong daily relationships with local newspaper editors, radio hosts, television reporters, and digital journalists across hospital communities and the surrounding counties.
- Campaign Execution: Draft and distribute high-impact press releases, media advisories, and pitch packages.
- Reputation Management: Proactively monitor local and regional media.
- Thought Leadership: Work with the MarCom director to create thought leadership content to spotlight clinical and leader expertise by providing a voice on trending topics relevant to the community.
- Integration: Partner with the Marketing & Branding Specialist to launch regular "Meet the Physician", "Provider Spotlight", “GME”, and “Employee Testimonials” media features across the community surrounding counties.
- Owned Media Content: Manage a content calendar and create ongoing written and visual content designed to drive community education and enhance the patient experience.
Job Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, or a related field Required
- Experience: 3–5 years of professional PR or marketing experience; healthcare industry background is strongly preferred
