QA Automation Engineer Jobs in Alabama: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a qa automation engineer in Alabama?
QA automation engineering in Alabama has no state-issued license or registration requirement, so the path runs through education and demonstrated technical skill. Most Alabama employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or software engineering, often from universities such as the University of Alabama, Auburn University, or UAH. Candidates who supplement their degree with vendor-recognized certifications in test automation tools or Agile methodologies move to the top of shortlists fastest.
How much do QA automation engineers make in Alabama?
QA automation engineers in Alabama earn a median of about $101,500 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $62,670 for the lowest 10% to over $162,600 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire qa automation engineers in Alabama?
Companies currently hiring qa automation engineers in Alabama include Yulista Management Services, bastion technologies, and HYUNDAI MOBIS, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Alabama's concentration of defense contractors and financial services firms in Huntsville and Birmingham means consistent long-term demand for engineers who can build and maintain automated test suites at scale.
Which Alabama cities have the most qa automation engineer jobs?
Huntsville, Birmingham, and Montgomery account for the largest share of qa automation engineer openings in Alabama. Huntsville leads because of its dense cluster of defense and aerospace contractors tied to Redstone Arsenal, while Birmingham's financial services and healthcare technology employers drive demand there, and smaller concentrations around Auburn and Decatur reflect the state's growing automotive and advanced manufacturing tech operations.
Are there remote qa automation engineer jobs in Alabama?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 0% of qa automation engineer openings tied to Alabama are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the fact that most automation testing work happens on code repositories and virtual test environments rather than physical hardware. The roles most likely to stay fully on-site are those supporting classified defense programs or embedded systems validation at secure Alabama facilities.
How can I get hired as a qa automation engineer in Alabama with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing a junior QA analyst or software tester role at one of Alabama's larger technology or defense employers and building automation skills from there. Huntsville firms that support government contracts frequently run associate engineer rotations, and Birmingham-area financial technology companies such as those in the Shipt and Protective Life ecosystem hire testers into structured training tracks. A portfolio of personal or open-source automation projects using Selenium or Pytest gives candidates with limited work history a concrete edge over others at the same experience level.
Where can I find and apply to qa automation engineer jobs in Alabama?
You can find and apply to qa automation engineer jobs in Alabama on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search for roles that match your framework experience and seniority level, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
