QA Automation Engineer Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a qa automation engineer in Florida?
There is no Florida state license required to work as a qa automation engineer, so the path centers on education and demonstrated technical skills. Most Florida employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or software engineering, though candidates with associate degrees and strong portfolios do get hired. Earning vendor-neutral certifications such as ISTQB and building a GitHub portfolio with working automation projects are the most effective ways to stand out in the Florida market.
How much do QA automation engineers make in Florida?
QA automation engineers in Florida earn a median of about $100,210 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $57,970 for the lowest 10% to over $150,620 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire qa automation engineers in Florida?
Employers hiring qa automation engineers in Florida right now include Publix, Infotech, and Flexjet, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's concentration of financial services firms in Tampa, defense contractors along the Space Coast, and large hospital systems statewide means demand comes from a broad mix of industries rather than a single sector.
Which Florida cities have the most qa automation engineer jobs?
Lakeland, Tampa, and Palm Beach have the most qa automation engineer openings in Florida. Tampa leads because of its growing fintech and cybersecurity cluster, Orlando draws from healthcare technology and simulation companies tied to defense and hospitality, while Miami reflects demand from financial services, logistics technology, and a rapidly expanding startup scene.
Are there remote qa automation engineer jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 100% of qa automation engineer openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how naturally the work fits a distributed model. Test script development, framework maintenance, and CI/CD pipeline work all translate well to fully remote arrangements, making this one of the more flexible technology roles in the Florida market.
How can I get hired as a qa automation engineer in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a manual QA analyst or software support role at a Florida employer, then building automation skills on the job. Large Florida technology teams at companies like Citigroup in Tampa or defense contractors along the Space Coast regularly hire junior QA analysts without automation experience and develop them internally. Building a public GitHub portfolio with Selenium or Cypress projects, completing ISTQB Foundation certification, and targeting associate QA or QA analyst postings at Florida-based healthcare systems and fintech firms will accelerate that transition.
Where can I find and apply to qa automation engineer jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to qa automation engineer jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings updated regularly. Search the listings for roles that match your experience and location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
