OUR CHALLENGE
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented QA Automation Engineer to join our quality assurance team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in API automation testing, proficiency with the Karate framework, and a solid understanding of QA principles. Banking domain experience is highly desirable to ensure thorough testing of financial systems and compliance standards.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Pittsburgh, PA is $95k - $105k/year & benefits (see below).
THE ROLE
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for APIs using Karate framework.
- Collaborate with developers and business analysts to understand requirements and translate them into effective test cases and automation scripts.
- Execute API tests to validate functionality, performance, security, and compliance requirements.
- Develop and execute end-to-end automation test suites to ensure high-quality releases.
- Identify, document, and track defects with clear reproducible steps and work closely with the development team for resolution.
- Integrate automation tests within CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing.
- Maintain and enhance automation frameworks for scalability and efficiency.
- Participate in requirement review, test planning, and review meetings to ensure quality standards.
- Keep updated with the latest industry trends, testing tools, and automation practices, especially within the banking/financial services sector.
REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience in Automation Testing, with a focus on API testing.
- Strong hands-on experience with the Karate framework for API automation.
- Solid understanding of QA methodologies, test planning, and defect management.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Java, JavaScript, or Groovy.
- Familiarity with testing tools like Postman, SoapUI, or similar.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
- Strong knowledge of RESTful API protocols and JSON/XML data formats.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Banking or Financial Services domain experience, including knowledge of payment systems, core banking, or financial regulations.
- Working knowledge of SQL for database testing.
- Experience with performance testing tools is a plus.
- ISTQB or other QA certifications are advantageous.
