Quality Control Technician

Overview:
As the Quality Control Technician, you will ensure all components, repairs, and completed pump assemblies meet company drawings, specifications, ISO procedures, and internal quality standards. In this role, you will inspect dismantled pump components, perform final inspections on in-house and subcontracted repairs, and verify all required quality documentation is completed prior to shipment. You will support calibration control, hold point inspections, and non-conformance reporting while working closely with technicians, supervisors, and customers. You’ll report directly to the Service Center Operations Manager and play a key role in maintaining quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction throughout the repair process.
Responsibilities:
- Inspects components per engineering drawings, specifications, and ISO procedures
- Performs final quality inspections on in-house and subcontracted repairs prior to shipment
- Documents component dimensions and inspection findings electronically
- Conducts customer and workshop hold point inspections to verify contractual and technical compliance
- Identifies and reports non-conforming products or procedures
- Maintains, tracks, and stores precision measurement instruments and inspection equipment
- Ensures calibration requirements are completed and documented in accordance with ISO standards
- Reads and interprets engineering drawings, GD&T, and OEM specifications
- Performs dimensional inspections using micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, height gauges, and CMM equipment
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives through problem solving and feedback
- Maintains organized inspection records, NCRs, calibration certificates, and traceability documentation
- Operates forklifts, cranes, and lifting equipment safely as needed
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Trains new employees on quality procedures and inspection practices when assigned
- Exercises stop-work authority on non-conforming products or unsafe procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in a related field preferred, along with relevant experience in quality control, rotating equipment, or industrial repair environments, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience:
- Demonstrated knowledge of rotating equipment including pumps, gearboxes, compressors, mixers, and turbines
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and OEM specifications
- Proficiency using precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment
- Understanding of ISO requirements, calibration control, traceability, NCR processes, and quality documentation standards
- Strong communication, analytical thinking, organizational skills, and commitment to workplace safety
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Experience with precision measurement tools including micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and CMM equipment.
- Familiarity with NDT methods including visual, dye penetrant, magnetic particle, and ultrasonic testing
- Ability to interpret metric and imperial measurements, tolerances, and dimensional requirements.
- Computer literacy with the ability to electronically document and maintain inspection records
- Knowledge of vibration fundamentals and alignment concepts preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Occasionally:
- lifting up to 70 lbs
- squatting; pulling; kneeling; pushing; and bending,
- Must be able to wear a respirator to fulfill painting responsibilities
