Most quality management specialist roles in District of Columbia require a bachelor's degree in a relevant field combined with a recognized professional credential such as the ASQ Certified Quality Manager, Certified Quality Auditor, or Certified Quality Engineer. The District of Columbia does not issue a state-level quality management license, so employers rely heavily on ASQ certifications and demonstrated experience with federal or regulatory compliance frameworks as the primary qualifying standards.
How much do quality management specialists make in District of Columbia?
Quality management specialists in District of Columbia earn a median of about $111,030 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $69,140 for the lowest 10% to over $156,750 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire quality management specialists in District of Columbia?
District of Columbia quality management specialist roles are posted by Nuclear, Guidehouse, and Pathways To Housing Dc Dsc and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The DC market is particularly deep in federal contractors and government agency employers, so many openings are tied to defense, healthcare, and IT program quality operations.
Which District of Columbia cities have the most quality management specialist jobs?
Washington account for the most quality management specialist openings in District of Columbia. Washington DC dominates because it is home to major federal agencies, defense contractors, and national associations that all maintain dedicated quality and compliance functions, while activity in adjacent corridors follows the geographic footprint of large federal contractors and hospital systems operating across the metro region.
Are there remote quality management specialist jobs in District of Columbia?
Yes, though availability varies by employer and function. About 39% of quality management specialist openings tied to District of Columbia are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting a market where federal contractor roles often require on-site presence or clearance-related access. The most remote-friendly functions tend to be documentation review, audit coordination, and quality systems analysis that do not require physical facility presence.
How can I get hired as a quality management specialist in District of Columbia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a quality associate or compliance coordinator role at a federal contractor, where many large DC-area employers including defense and IT services firms hire junior staff from adjacent roles such as project coordinator, data analyst, or technical writer. Pursuing an entry-level ASQ credential like the Certified Quality Improvement Associate and gaining exposure to ISO documentation or audit support processes gives candidates a concrete edge when applying to these organizations.
