DESCRIPTION
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of technical infrastructure program managers, software engineers, data specialists, supply chain specialists, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for planning and execution while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) designs, delivers, and operates the global data-center fleet that powers every AWS service. Our servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling assets in more than 245 countries and territories. We tackle some of the world’s most complex supply-chain problems so our customers can innovate without limits.
The Senior S&OP Planner leads the AIS Demand & S&OP team inside the CDSA (Capacity Delivery, Supportability & Analytics) organization. You will own the 0-2 year server-material Demand Plan of Record (POR) as well as transition plan for assigned server platforms. Your charter is to keep demand, supply, and financial plans in lock-step while building the automation and mechanisms that let AWS scale its GenAI and Core infrastructure faster, cheaper, and more sustainably. Success requires exceptional judgment, a builder’s mindset, and the ability to influence at all levels—from front-line planners to VP- and SVP-level business owners.
Key job responsibilities
-
Own the global S&OP cycle – Drive an end-to-end, monthly/quarterly cadence that aligns AWS demand signals with supply, power, and capital plans.
-
Deliver a trusted demand signal – Produce a single source of truth that reconciles financial plans, sales & growth outlooks, NPI roadmaps, transition ramps, and prior POR commitments.
-
Run executive planning forums – Frame one-way vs. two-way-door decisions, articulate trade-offs, and secure leadership alignment across AIS, EC2, S3, EBS, Finance, and Energy.
-
Architect planning systems – Guide software teams in automating demand-, supply-, and scenario-planning workflows (e.g., Connect, o9, Infor, Manhattan); own interim manual mechanisms until automation is in place.
-
Build decision frameworks – Develop constrained-planning models that surface risks and levers under power, permitting, or component shortages.
-
Measure what matters – Define KPIs and dashboards that quantify forecast accuracy, inventory turns, build-plan adherence, and capacity-delivery cycle time.
-
Champion continuous improvement – Sponsor digital-transformation sprints that simplify processes, eliminate waste, and raise planning maturity across AIS.

Regional Planner Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a regional planner in Washington?
Most regional planner positions in Washington require at least a bachelor's degree in urban planning, geography, public administration, or a related field, with a master's degree preferred for mid- and senior-level roles. Washington does not issue a state-specific planner license, but the American Institute of Certified Planners credential is widely expected by public agencies and regional councils. Candidates typically build eligibility by completing a Planning Accreditation Board-accredited program and then accumulating qualifying professional experience before sitting for the AICP exam.
Which companies hire regional planners in Washington?
Washington regional planner roles are posted by State of Washington, Amazon, and Lockheed Martin and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Public agencies, regional councils, and tribal governments across western and eastern Washington are consistent hirers, alongside private consulting firms serving municipal clients.
Which Washington cities have the most regional planner jobs?
Seattle, Lacey, and Bellevue account for the largest share of regional planner openings in Washington. Seattle's concentration of county agencies, the Puget Sound Regional Council, and large consulting firms drives the volume in the core metro, while Tacoma and Bellevue generate steady demand through Pierce and King County planning departments and the significant growth pressures reshaping both cities.
Are there remote regional planner jobs in Washington?
Yes, but they are limited, since regional planning work frequently involves site visits, public hearings, and coordination with local government offices that require in-person presence. About 58% of regional planner openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those arrangements tend to apply most to research-heavy, policy-writing, or data analysis roles rather than permit review or community engagement positions.
How can I get hired as a regional planner in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an internship or graduate assistantship with a Washington public agency before completing your degree. King County, the City of Seattle Office of Planning and Community Development, and the Washington State Department of Commerce regularly take interns and entry-level planning technicians. Candidates who move from permit technician, GIS analyst, or community development coordinator roles also transition successfully. A strong portfolio showing GIS work, a writing sample from a land use project, and progress toward AICP candidate status give applicants a measurable edge with Washington hiring managers.
Where can I find and apply to regional planner jobs in Washington?
You can find and apply to regional planner jobs in Washington on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Washington employers and agencies. Search the listings to find roles that fit your experience level, specialization, and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that match.
