Blue River Technology is based in Santa Clara, CA.
Summary
We are seeking a highly technical, collaborative Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to guide the evolution of our core technology platforms. This team is responsible for building the robotics engineering foundations that enable our autonomy and automation programs to build, train, and operate intelligent machines at scale. In this role, you will connect advanced machine learning with scalable infrastructure. We value thoughtful program ownership and trajectory facilitation over passive administration or information brokerage. The ideal candidate is energetic and ready to learn quickly, thrives in highly collaborative spaces, and is ready to operate as a deep owner of high-impact program outcomes.
- Employment Type: Full-Time
- Work Location: Remote in the United States
- Visa sponsorship is possible for this position.
Job Responsibilities
A combination, not necessarily all-inclusive, of the following:
- Serve as the outcome and domain owner for a portfolio of technical programs; be prepared to bootstrap ambitious, ambiguous, large-scale strategic initiatives into clear, structured execution paths.
- Weave complex, cross-organizational interdependencies into a singular, harmonious program strategy that unifies diverse engineering groups.
- Evangelize the program's strategy across the core platform engineering teams and the robotics programs that use our foundational tooling.
- Replace administrative status updates with an authoritative, bottom-up framework that clearly articulates milestones, sequences, and critical paths to executive leadership.
- Act as a high-velocity roadblock smasher, using your program tooling to identify engineering bottlenecks and re-chart course as necessary to guarantee high-quality, on-time program delivery.
- Build the connective tissue between cross-functional groups, ensuring deep understanding, operational symmetry, and goal alignment across teams.
- Shape and contribute deeply to strategic roadmaps for developing our robotics platform.
- Work cross-functionally to develop best practices and development processes in a dynamic environment, driving impact through the deployment of key initiatives and garnering adoption of those processes.
Required Experience and Skills
- At least 7+ years of experience driving complex, cross-functional technical programs.
- Strong track record of building alignment across diverse technical teams without formal authority.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex architectural concepts into clear, actionable program milestones.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or related technical discipline; or equivalent practical experience.
- Proficiency with agile project management tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with large-scale systems.
- Excellent communication, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Systems design or technical architecture experience, with the ability to understand and contribute to high-level system design discussions.
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Background in machine learning, computer vision, and/or robotics.
- Experience managing data science, machine learning, computer vision, robotics, or autonomy programs.
- Experience with cloud-based full-stack engineering development, including frontend, backend, and infrastructure.

Tips for Your Remote AI ML Engineering Job Search
Build a remote-ready ML portfolio
Publish reproducible notebooks, model cards, and experiment logs that teammates could follow without asking you a single question. Remote hiring managers use your public work to judge how well you communicate technical decisions asynchronously, which matters as much as the model results themselves.
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote ai ml engineering openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your stack and apply directly without sifting through listings from a dozen different sources.
Showcase async collaboration tools you know
Call out hands-on experience with tools like Weights and Biases, MLflow, or shared Jupyter environments in your application materials. Remote ai ml engineering teams run experiments asynchronously, and familiarity with experiment-tracking and model-registry workflows signals you can contribute without constant synchronous check-ins.
Prepare for remote technical screening formats
Many distributed teams use take-home design challenges or live shared-notebook sessions instead of whiteboard interviews. Practice explaining your modeling decisions in writing and walking through code in a shared environment, since remote interviewers evaluate both your reasoning and your ability to communicate it clearly without in-person cues.
Signal self-direction with structured project documentation
Remote ai ml engineering roles demand engineers who define their own success criteria and track their own progress. Attach brief write-ups to portfolio projects that describe the problem framing, the trade-offs you considered, and how you decided when a model was good enough to ship.
Remote AI ML Engineering Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote ai ml engineering job?
Target companies that already run distributed engineering teams, since they have the infrastructure and culture to onboard ai ml engineerings remotely. Remote hiring managers screen heavily for async written communication, self-directed project management, and the ability to document experiments clearly for teammates in different time zones. Strong GitHub repositories, reproducible ML pipelines, and experience with cloud-based training infrastructure give candidates a concrete edge over applicants with similar credentials but no remote-ready portfolio.
Which companies hire remote ai ml engineerings?
Employers currently hiring remote ai ml engineerings include CVS Health, Alvarez & Marsal, and Netflix, per current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Remote-first technology companies, distributed software product teams, and enterprises in healthcare AI and fintech tend to hire this role remotely most consistently.
Can you get a remote ai ml engineering job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level ai ml engineering roles are harder to land because employers expect you to ramp up independently from day one without in-person mentorship. The most effective substitutes for experience are public Kaggle competition results, open-source model contributions, and documented personal projects that demonstrate end-to-end pipeline ownership. Contract or freelance ML work for small startups can also open doors when a full-time remote offer feels out of reach.
Do you need a degree for remote ai ml engineering jobs?
Not always. Many remote employers in this field weigh demonstrated technical ability over formal credentials, particularly at companies that hire globally distributed talent and rely on skills assessments rather than credential screening. A strong portfolio showing model training, evaluation, and deployment work carries real weight, and candidates with relevant certifications in deep learning, MLOps, or cloud AI platforms frequently compete successfully against degree holders.
Which industries hire the most remote ai ml engineerings?
Remote ai ml engineering roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Consulting & Professional Services, and Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Those sectors hire ai ml engineerings remotely because their products and data infrastructure are cloud-native, making distributed team collaboration a practical default rather than an exception.
