INTRODUCTION
R1 is the leading provider of technology-driven solutions that transform the patient experience and financial performance of hospitals, health systems, and medical groups. We are the one company that combines the deep expertise of a global workforce of revenue cycle professionals with the industry’s most advanced technology platform, encompassing sophisticated analytics, AI, intelligent automation, and workflow orchestration.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Clinical Data Operations Analyst III is a core technical contributor on the PhareOS Implementation team, responsible for validating and troubleshooting the clinical data that powers PhareOS across HL7, FHIR, and standardized Databricks/dbt pipelines. This role lives at the intersection of raw source data, transformation logic, and downstream product readiness: running SQL-based validation, tracing HL7-to-FHIR transformations end to end, and partnering with engineering, product, clinical, and vendor teams to keep client data accurate, complete, and production-ready. It's hands-on, detective-style work at the center of one of the fastest-growing platforms in healthcare AI, with direct visibility into how clean clinical data translates into measurable outcomes for some of the largest health systems in the country. This position must communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and thrives on solving problems others haven't found yet.
Essential Responsibilities
- Serve as a front-line data detective for PhareOS: execute SQL-based validation of HL7, FHIR, and batch healthcare data across every layer of the pipeline, from raw source through standardized tables.
- Hunt down and resolve data quality issues — missing records, null propagation, duplicate records, incorrect mappings, and inconsistent relationships — before they ever reach a client or a downstream product.
- Trace the full journey of clinical data: review raw source messages, HL7-to-FHIR Bundle transformations, and standardized tables to pinpoint source availability gaps and transformation accuracy issues.
- Partner directly with engineering to support and refine dbt models and mapping logic that power PhareOS’s clinical data layer.
- Validate HL7 and FHIR message processing across critical clinical fields — event codes, patient class, discharge disposition, payer, diagnosis, procedure, and DRG — ensuring the data driving PhareOS is clinically sound.
- Build Databricks SQL queries and notebooks to power validation, field-level research, production triage, and go-live readiness for new and existing clients.
- Document validation results, mapping assumptions, known limitations, and recommended remediation paths that both technical and non-technical stakeholders can act on.
- Be the connective tissue between engineering, product, clinical, and vendor teams — showing up with clear data evidence and reproducible examples instead of vague symptoms.
- Monitor and investigate client-specific data discrepancies in production, and validate fixes to confirm the issue is truly resolved.
- Support successful client clinical data implementations from data acquisition through go-live, with particular focus on strategic and/or complex clients and tight timelines.
- Communicate technical and healthcare revenue cycle concepts clearly across audiences — from engineers and clinicians to client IT/data contacts — adapting the message without losing the substance.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong SQL skills required — comfortable writing complex validation queries across large, multi-layered healthcare datasets.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks SQL and notebooks is essential. Experience with dbt, Spark SQL, Python, Git, and modern data lake/warehouse platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, or similar) is strongly preferred.
- Experience with healthcare clinical and revenue cycle data, including HL7 v2/v3 messaging and FHIR resources/Bundles.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of experience querying, validating, and analyzing data in SQL, with comfort writing complex, multi-table validation queries.
- 10+ years of experience working on data pipeline, integration, or implementation projects; healthcare data experience a strong plus.
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, product, clinical, and/or vendor teams, translating technical findings into clear, actionable evidence.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with healthcare clinical data formats and standards, including HL7 v2/v3 messaging, FHIR resources/Bundles, and the transformation logic that connects them.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills — the instinct to keep digging until you find the actual root cause, not just the symptom.
COMPENSATION
For this US-based position, the base pay range is $65,000.00 - $145,934.00 per year. Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This job is eligible to participate in our annual bonus plan at a target of 10.00%.

Tips for Your Remote Clinical Data Analyst Job Search
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote clinical data analyst openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your skills and apply directly. Remote postings at distributed clinical teams fill fast, so applying early matters.
Show async communication in your application
Remote clinical data analyst teams rely on written handoffs and asynchronous updates. Highlight experience writing data queries, issue logs, or analysis summaries that others could act on without a live walkthrough. A clear writing sample from real work signals readiness for distributed teams.
Build a portfolio around clinical datasets
Remote employers can't observe your process in person, so a portfolio does that work for you. Annotated SAS programs, cleaned SDTM datasets from public trial data, or a documented discrepancy resolution workflow give hiring managers something concrete to evaluate before an interview.
Name your EDC and standards experience explicitly
Remote job postings for clinical data analysts almost always screen for specific tools: Medidata Rave, Oracle Clinical, Veeva Vault, or Inform. List each platform and your CDISC standards exposure, including SDTM, ADaM, and CDASH, clearly in your resume so automated screening and reviewers both catch it quickly.
Remote Clinical Data Analyst Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote clinical data analyst job?
Remote clinical data analyst roles go to candidates who can demonstrate self-direction and strong written communication alongside technical skills. Remote hiring teams screen for proficiency in SAS, R, or Python, experience with EDC systems like Medidata Rave or Oracle Clinical, and the ability to document and communicate findings clearly without in-person support. A portfolio showing clean, well-annotated analysis work gives you a concrete edge over equally qualified candidates.
Which companies hire remote clinical data analysts?
Companies hiring remote clinical data analysts right now include CVS Health, Baptist Health South Florida, and R1 RCM, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Remote openings for this role are most common at contract research organizations, health technology companies, and pharmaceutical firms that operate distributed clinical teams.
Can you get a remote clinical data analyst job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level clinical data analyst roles are harder to land because employers expect you to troubleshoot independently from day one. Smaller contract research organizations and health IT startups are more likely to hire entry-level candidates remotely. Completing a clinical data management certification, building sample datasets from public clinical trial data, and showing comfort with EDC platforms can substitute meaningfully for direct work experience.
Do you need a degree for remote clinical data analyst jobs?
Not always. Most remote employers prefer a background in life sciences, statistics, or health informatics, but demonstrated proficiency in clinical data tools carries real weight. Candidates who show hands-on experience with SAS or R, familiarity with CDISC standards like SDTM and ADaM, and a portfolio of clean analysis work regularly compete with degree holders for remote roles.
Which industries hire the most remote clinical data analysts?
Remote clinical data analyst roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Non-Profit & Social Services, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors hire clinical data analysts remotely because their research and trial operations are distributed across multiple sites and time zones by design.
