Tips for Your Remote Curriculum Specialist Job Search
Build a portfolio of async-ready work samples
Remote curriculum employers want proof you can produce results without in-person direction. Assemble completed modules, storyboards, or facilitator guides that show your full design process, from learning objectives through assessment, so reviewers can evaluate your work independently.
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote curriculum specialist openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your background and apply directly without sorting through mixed location results.
Demonstrate tool fluency in your application materials
Remote curriculum teams run on specific tools: Articulate Storyline, Rise, Camtasia, LMS platforms like Canvas or Docebo. Name the tools you've used and in what context. Employers screening async applications look for this before scheduling an interview.
Prepare for written-first remote interviews
Many remote employers start the screening process with written exercises or async video prompts rather than live calls. Practice explaining your instructional decisions clearly in writing, since your ability to communicate without real-time back-and-forth signals how you'll perform on the job.
Target companies with established remote L&D teams
Look for employers that already publish remote-produced courses, run distributed onboarding programs, or list multiple curriculum roles across time zones. These companies have the workflows and tooling in place, so you'll spend less time building infrastructure and more time doing the actual curriculum work.
Remote Curriculum Specialist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote curriculum specialist job?
Target companies that already run distributed teams, since they have the infrastructure and culture to support remote curriculum work. Remote employers screen hard for self-direction, clear async written communication, and the ability to manage feedback cycles without in-person check-ins. A portfolio showing completed courses, instructional materials, or scoped projects you drove independently gives you a concrete edge over candidates who only list responsibilities.
Which companies hire remote curriculum specialists?
Employers currently hiring remote curriculum specialists include Per Scholas, IXL Learning, and Cisco, per current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Remote-first ed-tech firms, corporate L&D teams at distributed companies, and online learning platforms are the most consistent sources of remote openings for this role.
Can you get a remote curriculum specialist job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level curriculum roles are harder to land because employers expect you to work independently from day one without on-site mentorship. Your strongest play is to show real work: a self-directed course project, volunteer instructional design for a nonprofit, or a portfolio of learning materials you built on your own. Small ed-tech startups and nonprofits with distributed teams are the most likely entry points.
Do you need a degree for remote curriculum specialist jobs?
Not always. Many remote employers weigh demonstrated instructional design skills, a strong portfolio, and familiarity with authoring tools like Articulate Storyline or Rise alongside or instead of a formal degree. A degree in education, instructional design, or a related field helps with larger organizations, but showing you can build effective learning materials remotely often carries more weight in practice.
Which industries hire the most remote curriculum specialists?
Remote curriculum specialist roles concentrate in Technology & Software and Electronics & Hardware, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Those sectors rely on distributed teams that need scalable onboarding, compliance training, and ongoing employee development delivered without a central physical location.
