Tips for Your Remote Licensed Professional Counselor Job Search
List your licensure state by state
Your LPC license is state-specific, so your resume should name every state where you hold active licensure. Employers with multi-state locations screen for this first, and missing it gets your application filtered out before anyone reads your clinical experience.
Tailor your resume to each setting
A community mental health center values caseload management and crisis intervention experience, while a private group practice prioritizes specialty modalities like EMDR or CBT. Reframe your bullet points to match the setting you're targeting, not a single generic version of your work.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists licensed professional counselor openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Highlight supervision hours if still accumulating
If you're working toward full licensure, state your total supervised hours to date and your expected completion timeline directly on your resume. Employers offering associate-level roles want to know exactly where you stand so they can plan supervision capacity and caseload assignment.
Prepare clinical vignettes for interviews
Most licensed professional counselor interviews include a case presentation or scenario question. Have two or three anonymized vignettes ready that demonstrate your assessment process, treatment planning, and outcome tracking, matched to the population the employer serves.
Negotiate supervision and CEU support, not just pay
Licensed professional counselors often overlook benefits tied directly to licensure maintenance. Ask specifically about funded clinical supervision, paid continuing education days, and reimbursement for license renewal fees. These have real dollar value and vary widely between employers.
Remote Licensed Professional Counselor Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote licensed professional counselor job?
Target companies that already run distributed teams, since they hire remotely by default and know how to onboard someone they never meet in person. Remote licensed professional counselor employers screen hard for self-direction and clear written communication on top of the core skills, so show evidence you can own work without someone over your shoulder. Apply to the openings above that match your experience.
Which companies hire remote licensed professional counselors?
Employers currently hiring remote licensed professional counselors include Brightside Health, Oshi Health, and Net Health, per current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Remote-first firms and large companies running distributed teams post the most remote licensed professional counselor roles.
Can you get a remote licensed professional counselor job with no experience?
Yes, but it is harder than an on-site role, because remote work expects you to operate independently from the start. Entry-level remote licensed professional counselor openings do exist, especially at remote-first companies, and a portfolio of real work helps more than a long resume. Applying broadly to the roles that fit improves your odds.
Do you need a degree for remote licensed professional counselor jobs?
Not always. Many employers hire remote licensed professional counselors on demonstrated skills and prior work rather than a specific degree, though some larger companies still prefer one. Showing relevant results matters more than a credential for most remote licensed professional counselor roles.
Which industries hire the most remote licensed professional counselors?
Most remote licensed professional counselor openings sit in Technology & Software, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Insurance, per current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors run distributed teams and hire licensed professional counselors remotely most consistently.
