Tips for Your Remote Technical Solutions Architect Job Search
Tailor your resume to each pillar
Technical solutions architect roles split between pre-sales and post-sales contexts. Highlight discovery workshops and proof-of-concept wins for pre-sales openings, and migration execution and platform standardization for delivery-focused roles. Using the wrong emphasis gets your resume screened out fast.
Certify in the stack being hired
Hiring managers for technical solutions architect positions often filter by cloud certification first. If a posting names AWS, Azure, or GCP prominently, holding the corresponding professional-level architect cert signals you can contribute from day one rather than spending months ramping up.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists technical solutions architect openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Quantify the scope of past architectures
Vague claims like 'designed cloud solutions' get ignored. Frame your experience around transaction volume, number of integrated systems, or user scale your architecture supported. Reviewers use those numbers to judge whether your background matches the size of their environment.
Prepare a whiteboard architecture walkthrough
Most technical solutions architect interviews include a live design exercise. Practice narrating your decisions out loud as you draw, not just producing a clean diagram. Interviewers weigh your reasoning process and how you handle constraints almost as heavily as the final design.
Negotiate scope and travel expectations clearly
Offer letters for technical solutions architect roles often underspecify expected client travel or on-call obligations. Before accepting, confirm the percentage of travel, which accounts you would own, and whether the scope matches what was described in the interview process.

Yes, but it is harder than an on-site role, because remote work expects you to operate independently from the start. Applying broadly to the roles that fit improves your odds.
