Research Jobs in Nashville: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a research job in Nashville?
Nashville's strongest hiring comes from its dense cluster of hospital systems, universities, and health-focused nonprofits, so tailoring your application to healthcare or life sciences gives you the clearest edge. Roles are concentrated in the Medical Center district and Midtown, with additional openings at Vanderbilt University and nearby institutions. Demonstrating data analysis skills, grant writing experience, or familiarity with IRB protocols will set you apart from other candidates in this market.
Which companies hire researchs in Nashville?
Companies currently hiring researchs in Nashville include Vanderbilt University, Tennessee Oncology, and Vanderbilt Health, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Nashville's employer mix skews heavily toward hospital networks, academic medical centers, and health-tech firms, making healthcare a dominant hiring force in the local research market.
Are there remote research jobs in Nashville?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the type of work: analytical, policy, and qualitative roles are more likely to be remote, while lab-based or clinical research positions are almost always on-site. About 33% of research openings tied to Nashville are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. In Nashville specifically, health-tech and think-tank roles are the most likely to offer flexible arrangements.
How can I get a research job in Nashville with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Nashville is a research coordinator or research assistant role within one of the city's major hospital systems or at Vanderbilt University, both of which regularly hire candidates without extensive prior experience. Applying to clinical trial units or public health programs at local nonprofits is another practical starting point. Building familiarity with REDCap data systems or completing a relevant certificate strengthens applications considerably in Nashville's healthcare-driven research environment.
