What we want
The Research Assistant provides administrative, technical, and computational support for AI-driven and data-intensive research projects. Assists with project phases, including data processing, software development, model implementation, and analysis. Supports proposal preparation, maintains research systems and computing environments, and collaborates with faculty, students, and technical staff on AI, data science, and computer engineering initiatives.

Salary: Commensurate

Qualifications
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science or relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in computer science or a related field, with experience in AI/ML and software development
- Proficiency in programming (e.g., Python, Java, C++) and machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn)
- Experience with data structures, algorithms, cloud platforms, APIs, and deployment tools
- Familiarity with advanced AI areas (deep learning, NLP, computer vision) and MLOps practices (CI/CD, containerization, distributed systems)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts, model development, deployment, and responsible AI practices
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail with a commitment to quality
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently and collaboratively in team environments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and support continuous innovation
Responsibilities
Research
- Assists in the design, development, and coordination of AI-driven research initiatives and computational experiments supporting multiple projects in data science and computer science.
- Applies established methodologies in machine learning, data engineering, and computational analysis, maintaining detailed documentation of datasets, model configurations, and experimental results.
- Supports the development, deployment, and maintenance of AI platforms, software tools, and data pipelines; may assist in troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing system performance.
- Utilizes programming languages, statistical software, and advanced computing environments to conduct data analysis, model training, evaluation, and technical assessment of research outcomes.
- Analyzes, interprets, and summarizes findings from computational experiments and AI model outputs for reports, presentations, and research dissemination.
Research Publications
- Assists in the preparation and development of research proposals to funding agencies, including projects focused on artificial intelligence, data science, and computational methodologies; supports budget tracking and management of financial accounts associated with research initiatives.
- Contributes to the development of technical reports, documentation, and project deliverables, including the organization and maintenance of datasets, model artifacts, version-controlled code repositories, and research records.
Mentorship
- Provides guidance and support to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as technical staff, engaged in AI, data science, and computational research projects, including assistance with coding practices, data management, model development, and research methodologies.
