Respiratory Therapist Jobs in Columbus: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a respiratory therapist job in Columbus?
Focus your search on Columbus's major hospital systems and the long-term acute care facilities clustered near the Ohio State University medical campus and downtown. Candidates with experience in mechanical ventilation, pulmonary rehab, or neonatal care move fastest in this market. Networking through OhioHealth or Nationwide Children's affiliated programs and targeting the growing home health sector in the outer suburbs also gives you a real edge locally.
Which companies hire respiratory therapists in Columbus?
Employers hiring respiratory therapists in Columbus right now include American Traveler, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, and Nationwide Children's Hospital, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Columbus's hiring is dominated by large integrated health systems alongside specialty hospitals and post-acute care providers serving the region.
Are there remote respiratory therapist jobs in Columbus?
Yes, though only for a narrow slice of the field, since most respiratory therapist work is hands-on and requires direct patient contact. About 9% of respiratory therapist openings tied to Columbus are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the limited but real opportunities available. The roles most likely to allow remote work in Columbus involve telehealth respiratory monitoring, case management, or clinical education coordination.
How can I get a respiratory therapist job in Columbus with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Columbus is applying to new-grad positions at the city's large hospital systems, which run structured residency and transition programs for newly credentialed therapists. Positions in sleep labs, outpatient pulmonary clinics near the university district, and long-term care facilities on the east and west sides tend to have more flexibility for candidates still building clinical hours. Volunteering or completing clinicals at a Columbus-area hospital strengthens your application considerably.
Which industries hire the most respiratory therapists in Columbus?
Columbus respiratory therapist roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services and Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Columbus's status as a major Midwest healthcare hub, anchored by its university medical center and a dense network of regional health systems, makes those sectors the consistent engine of local hiring.
