Risk Analyst Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a risk analyst job in Chicago?
Focus your search on the Loop and West Loop, where Chicago's financial institutions, insurance carriers, and commodity trading firms are densest. Credit risk, operational risk, and model validation skills open the most doors here. Candidates who can speak to regulatory frameworks relevant to banking or insurance, and who have experience with Chicago's exchange-driven markets, consistently stand out against the local competition.
Which companies hire risk analysts in Chicago?
Employers hiring risk analysts in Chicago right now include Google, Information Technology Senior Management Forum, and RBC, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Chicago's mix of global banks, regional insurers, proprietary trading firms, and large healthcare systems means demand for risk analysts comes from a broad range of employer types across the city.
Are there remote risk analyst jobs in Chicago?
Yes, though availability depends on the specialty. Quantitative and model-focused roles tend to offer more flexibility, while roles tied to trading floors or physical operations are typically on-site. About 47% of risk analyst openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. Model validation, enterprise risk, and credit analytics positions are the most commonly offered in hybrid or remote arrangements locally.
How can I get a risk analyst job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is targeting risk operations or compliance analyst roles at regional banks, insurance carriers, or fintech firms in the West Loop and Fulton Market areas. Many Chicago insurers and mid-size banks hire junior analysts directly from finance or economics programs, including those from local universities. Building familiarity with Excel-based risk modeling and earning a Financial Risk Manager credential signals seriousness to Chicago hiring managers.
