Security Engineer Jobs in Phoenix: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a security engineer job in Phoenix?
Focus your search on Phoenix's strongest hiring sectors: defense and aerospace contractors clustered near Luke Air Force Base and the I-17 corridor, financial technology firms in Tempe and Scottsdale, and large healthcare systems headquartered in central Phoenix. Candidates with cloud security certifications such as CISSP or AWS Security Specialty stand out, as do those with federal clearance experience, which many local defense employers require from day one.
Which companies hire security engineers in Phoenix?
Employers hiring security engineers in Phoenix right now include TECHNOLOGENT, Intel Corporation, and Atos, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Phoenix attracts a broad mix of large enterprise employers, regional banks and credit unions, and defense primes alongside a growing wave of cybersecurity-focused technology companies with regional offices in the metro.
Are there remote security engineer jobs in Phoenix?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the specialty: hands-on roles such as network operations or physical security engineering are typically on-site, while cloud security, application security, and threat intelligence positions are far more remote-friendly. About 60% of security engineer openings tied to Phoenix are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broader enterprise flexibility for desk-based security work. Application security and GRC analyst roles see the highest share of remote options locally.
How can I get a security engineer job in Phoenix with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Phoenix is landing a security operations center analyst role, which many local employers treat as a pipeline for security engineers. Healthcare systems, regional banks, and managed security service providers in the metro regularly hire entry-level SOC analysts and IT support staff willing to cross-train. Earning CompTIA Security+ before applying and pursuing internships through Arizona State University's cybersecurity programs significantly strengthens a Phoenix-area candidacy.
