New Mexico does not require a state-issued license for this role. Candidates who hold a CPA issued through the New Mexico Public Accountancy Board or a CMA credential stand out in the local market, particularly when applying to state agencies, universities, or federally funded institutions that prioritize credentialed finance professionals.

Albuquerque drives the majority of postings as the state's largest metro, anchored by major healthcare systems, the University of New Mexico, and federal contractors, while Santa Fe generates openings through state government agencies and Rio Rancho through its growing technology and administrative employer base.
