Position Summary
The Senior Principal Trainer is an individual contributor responsible for leading clinical application training in support of enterprise initiatives, system implementations, and workflow optimization. This role provides functional expertise, supports training readiness activities, and ensures high-quality, standardized training delivery across deployments. Principal Trainers collaborate closely with Clinical Informatics, Operations, IT, and Learning & Development teams and provide functional guidance to Credentialed Trainers.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as functional training lead for assigned applications or workstreams
Develop, maintain, and update role-based curricula, training materials, and reference tools
Support training readiness activities, including needs assessments and deployment preparation
Provide guidance, mentoring, and quality oversight to Credentialed Trainers to ensure consistent training delivery standards
Partner with operational and clinical stakeholders to align training with real-world workflows and change impacts
Identify training risks and gaps and recommend mitigation strategies
Participate in implementation activities including testing, dress rehearsals, and go-live support
Contribute to continuous improvement of training standards, processes, and delivery models
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in clinical informatics, healthcare IT, or enterprise training
Experience supporting EHR implementations or large-scale system initiatives
Demonstrated knowledge of clinical and operational healthcare workflows
Epic certification(s) required at time of hire (Ambulatory, Patient Access Applications, Revenue Cycle, Cogito preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting multi-wave or enterprise-scale healthcare deployments
Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder partnership skills
Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

The typical pay range for this role is:
$83,430.00 - $222,480.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
