Software Developer Jobs in Raleigh: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a software developer job in Raleigh?
Raleigh's strongest hiring comes from enterprise software companies in Research Triangle Park, healthtech firms near the medical corridor, and fintech shops downtown. Candidates who know cloud infrastructure, full-stack web development, or data engineering tend to move fastest here. Engaging with local tech meetups in the Triangle and targeting companies with a North Carolina engineering presence gives you a real edge over remote-only applicants.
Which companies hire software developers in Raleigh?
Raleigh software developer roles are posted by Verily, Red Hat, and Relay and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The local market includes a mix of large enterprise tech employers anchored in Research Triangle Park, fast-growing healthtech startups, and established financial services firms with engineering teams in the city.
Are there remote software developer jobs in Raleigh?
Yes, software development is among the most remote-friendly disciplines in the job market. About 78% of software developer openings tied to Raleigh are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how readily this work moves off-site. Backend and cloud-focused roles tend to offer the most flexibility, while positions at Raleigh's larger enterprise and government-adjacent employers more often require on-site presence.
How can I get a software developer job in Raleigh with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Raleigh is targeting junior developer or associate engineer roles at mid-size software companies in Research Triangle Park, where team structures support onboarding less experienced candidates. Local healthtech and SaaS startups also hire entry-level developers willing to work across the stack. Building a portfolio with deployed projects and contributing to open-source work gives Raleigh employers something concrete to evaluate beyond a resume.
