Entry Level Software Engineer AI Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level software engineer ai job?
Employers hiring at the entry level look for hands-on familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, comfort working with large language models or vector databases, and at least one project that demonstrates real output. A GitHub portfolio showing end-to-end AI work, even from coursework or a personal project, carries significant weight. Internship experience or contributions to open-source AI tools can give a candidate a clear edge over applicants who rely on coursework alone.
Which companies hire entry level software engineer ais?
Companies hiring entry level software engineer ais right now include CVS Health, Google, and TikTok, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Hiring covers large technology firms building internal AI products, startups scaling AI-native features, and enterprise companies integrating AI into existing software, so candidates at this level have options across a wide range of company sizes and stages.
Are there remote entry level software engineer ai jobs?
Yes, though availability varies by employer and role type. About 76% of entry level software engineer ai openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, making this a field where candidates outside major tech hubs can still compete for strong opportunities. Roles requiring access to proprietary hardware or on-site model infrastructure tend to be fully on-site, while software-focused AI positions are more likely to offer flexibility.
Are these new grad software engineer ai jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior software engineer ai roles. A posting is typically new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internships or academic projects in place of professional history, and does not require prior production deployment experience. Listings that mention degree completion within the last two years or explicitly invite portfolio submissions are strong signals that a new grad candidate is a competitive applicant.
Which industries hire the most entry level software engineer ais?
Entry Level software engineer ai roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Technology & Software, and Artificial Intelligence, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors drive junior hiring because they are actively building or expanding AI-powered products and need engineers who can work alongside senior staff on model integration, data pipelines, and evaluation tooling from the start of their careers.
