Entry Level Devops Lead Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level devops lead job?
Focus on demonstrating hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization tools like Docker or Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code platforms such as Terraform. A public GitHub portfolio with real automation projects gives hiring managers something concrete to evaluate. Internships, bootcamp capstone projects, and cloud certifications from AWS, Google, or Azure all signal readiness for an entry level devops lead role, even without years of full-time experience.
Which companies hire entry level devops leads?
Companies hiring entry level devops leads right now include Booz Allen Hamilton, Northrop Grumman, and Leidos, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Technology firms, government contractors, and growth-stage startups tend to post the most entry level openings, since they are actively building out their infrastructure teams and are more open to candidates who bring strong fundamentals over extensive experience.
Are there remote entry level devops lead jobs?
Yes, remote and hybrid options exist at this level, though on-site roles are still common. About 21% of entry level devops lead openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, making it a realistic path for candidates who prefer flexibility or are relocating. Filtering by work setting on Migrate Mate lets you focus only on the arrangements that fit your situation.
Are these new grad devops lead jobs?
Yes, many of these openings are new grad and junior roles that explicitly welcome recent graduates and candidates with little or no full-time experience. A new grad friendly devops lead posting typically accepts zero to two years of experience, counts internships or academic projects toward eligibility, and values a strong portfolio over a lengthy resume. Look for language like 'entry level,' 'junior,' or 'new grad' in the job description to confirm the experience bar.
Which industries hire the most entry level devops leads?
Entry Level devops lead roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Consulting & Professional Services, and Banking & Financial Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors hire at the entry level because they are scaling cloud infrastructure, automating deployments, and building out DevOps practices, creating demand for junior candidates who can grow into the role alongside expanding engineering teams.
