How do I get a software engineer job in Orlando?
Focus your search on Orlando's strongest hiring sectors: defense and aerospace simulation, hospitality technology, healthcare IT, and gaming. The Creative Village and Lake Nona districts concentrate a large share of openings, along with Maitland Center and the University of Central Florida research corridor. Candidates with experience in C++, Java, or cloud platforms tend to stand out, and networking through local tech meetups in Orlando gives a meaningful edge over remote applicants.
Which companies hire software engineers in Orlando?
Employers hiring software engineers in Orlando right now include Lockheed Martin, Versant, and Disney Experiences, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The local market includes a broad mix of defense contractors, theme park technology divisions, health systems, and fast-growing SaaS companies that have relocated or expanded in the region.
Are there remote software engineer jobs in Orlando?
Yes, software engineering is one of the more remote-compatible roles in the job market, particularly for backend, cloud, and full-stack work that doesn't require on-site hardware or lab access. About 25% of software engineer openings tied to Orlando are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with the highest remote availability in SaaS and enterprise software roles. Defense and simulation positions typically require on-site presence due to security clearance requirements.
How can I get a software engineer job in Orlando with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Orlando is through internship pipelines at companies connected to the University of Central Florida, which maintains strong relationships with local defense contractors, health tech firms, and gaming studios. Entry-level roles with titles like junior developer, associate software engineer, or QA engineer are common starting points. Building a portfolio with projects in simulation, mobile, or data-driven applications resonates with Orlando employers and helps candidates compete without extensive professional history.
