We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
At Amazon Web Services (AWS), we provide world-class, flexible, scalable, and secure cloud services to the world’s fastest-growing startups, the largest enterprises, and leading government agencies. We do this by building, maintaining, and securing one of the largest, most complex networks in the world. Within AWS, the Infrastructure Security Organization – Hardware Lifecycle Security (InfraSec-HLS) team is responsible for validating the devices and components within them throughout the hardware lifecycle across global AWS datacenters.
The AWS InfraSec-HLS team is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to join our Infrastructure Security-HLS Software Development team. In this role, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and scaling the software solutions that support the security of our devices that form the foundation of our cloud. You will work with Software Development Engineers, Security Engineers, and Software Development Manager, in raising the bar and elevating InfraSec-HLS’s software capabilities by developing innovative solutions to complicated problems. Successful candidates will possess an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for their work. They will be self-motivated and comfortable setting their own direction in an always-changing and highly-complex environment.
AWS leads and innovates. We don’t just buy off-the-shelf software or follow others. We research and pursue the best approach for the business, whether that’s building new solutions or leveraging existing ones. Amazon Web Services, and the Infrastructure Security Organization in particular, operate at massive scale and as a result, demand the highest standards, passion, and discipline for information security and software engineering. A high level of ownership and accountability is a must for this role.

Software Engineer Jobs in Minneapolis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a software engineer job in Minneapolis?
Target Minneapolis's three strongest hiring sectors: financial technology firms clustered downtown, health technology companies anchored near the medical district, and enterprise software shops in the North Loop. Mid-size product companies and Fortune 500 tech divisions both hire regularly here. Candidates with full-stack or cloud infrastructure experience stand out, and local tech meetups and the Minneapolis tech community on Slack help build the referral network that moves applications forward.
Which companies hire software engineers in Minneapolis?
Minneapolis software engineer roles are posted by Optum, Punch Through, and Medtronic and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The local market includes a mix of established Fortune 500 headquarters, regional fintech and health tech companies, and a growing layer of venture-backed startups concentrated in the North Loop and Downtown neighborhoods.
Are there remote software engineer jobs in Minneapolis?
Yes, software engineering is one of the more remote-friendly disciplines given that most of the work happens at a keyboard rather than on-site. About 69% of software engineer openings tied to Minneapolis are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broad adoption across the city's tech sector. Backend, cloud, and platform roles tend to offer the most location flexibility, while roles involving on-site infrastructure or embedded systems typically require in-office presence.
How can I get a software engineer job in Minneapolis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Minneapolis is landing a junior or associate developer role at one of the city's mid-size fintech or health tech companies, which hire entry-level engineers more consistently than large enterprise teams. Local coding bootcamp graduates find traction through internship pipelines at companies headquartered downtown. Building a portfolio with projects relevant to financial data or healthcare applications signals genuine interest in Minneapolis's dominant sectors and separates candidates from generic applicants.
Which industries hire the most software engineers in Minneapolis?
Minneapolis software engineer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Consulting & Professional Services, and Retail, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Minneapolis's identity as a financial services hub and a growing health technology center drives consistent developer demand, with retail technology from major corporate headquarters adding a third significant layer of local hiring.
