This is the role where architecture meets impact. The Account Solutions Architect (SA) is the trusted technical advisor that customers rely on from first engagement through production and beyond - building sustained technical relationships, understanding customer objectives, and guiding them toward solutions that deliver measurable business outcomes. Through ongoing technical credibility and a commitment to the customer's success, the Account SA drives adoption and deepens engagement in ways that produce lasting business outcomes as the enduring technical voice that earns and maintains customer trust as a member of the account team.

The SA validates recommendations through hands-on building, turning architectural insight into working solutions that earn customer trust.
The Account SA provides prescriptive technical guidance - selecting services, designing secure, resilient and scalable architectures, optimizing for cost and performance, and surfacing risks early. Operates as a hands-on builder in the customer's [non-production] environment, validating solutions through working proof points (PoCs, prototypes, reference implementations) because working solutions earn trust that documents cannot. The role scales impact beyond individual engagements by contributing reusable assets other practitioners adopt, orchestrating access to deeper expertise when needed, and transferring capability so customers achieve self-sufficiency rather than dependency.

Key job responsibilities
Technical Solution Design & Customer Advisory

• Designs end-to-end solutions for customer workloads, making trade-off decisions across security, scalability, reliability, performance, cost, and operational efficiency while navigating constraints, operational maturity, and competing business priorities.
• Acts as a trusted technical advisor to the customer's technical and business stakeholders, understanding business objectives, technology landscape, and industry context to recommend fit-for-purpose solutions that connect architectural decisions to long-term business outcomes.
• Advances customer decisions across complex stakeholder groups by making business outcomes (cost reduction, time-to-value, return on investment) tangible and credible through the appropriate combination of architectural reasoning, technical proof, or working demonstrations.
• Evaluates existing customer architectures to identify gaps, risks, modernization and optimization opportunities; delivers actionable remediation guidance and modernization roadmaps.

Building & Demonstrating Solutions

• Operates as a hands-on builder who develops and validates solutions through working proof points in own sandbox and customer non-production environments - leveraging emerging technologies and AI-assisted development to accelerate proof-of-value delivery while maintaining security and operational rigor.
• Applies a production mindset from the outset, integrating governance, security, resiliency, observability, and human validation of critical deliverables into all demonstrable artifacts. Delivers solutions to Amazon Coding Bar (technical standards): tested, secure, and maintainable by others.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partners with sales, business development, professional services, support, product/engineering teams, and external partners teams to move solutions from adoption through launch, orchestrating multi-team delivery against a shared architecture.
• Provides technical input to product teams by translating customer evidence into clear, actionable requirements that tighten the feedback loop between Account engagements and product direction.

Enablement & Organizational Development

• Improves how the team operates by driving process changes, knowledge transfer, mentoring others, leading design reviews, creating reusable assets (code, tooling, reference implementations) that scale best practices, and recruiting technical talent to sustain a high-performing team.

Thought Leadership & Content Development

• Develops and delivers prescriptive technical content - reference architectures, workshops, white papers, blog posts, and presentations - that shifts how other technical practitioners deliver and educates the broader technical community.
• Represents the organization at industry events, customer forums, and technical conferences as a recognized technical voice.
  

A day in the life
Your day starts with context - reviewing where your customers are in their technical journey, what's changed in their environment, and what's next. You might open with a design session where you're whiteboarding architecture options with a customer's engineering team, making trade-off decisions together, and committing to a direction. By mid-morning, you're building - writing code, deploying infrastructure, or extending a proof of concept in a sandbox to validate what you recommended yesterday.
After lunch, you're in a customer strategy session with your account team - advising on technical direction, connecting technical progress to business outcomes, navigating competing priorities, and aligning on what proof point will give the customer's decision-makers confidence to move forward. Not everything is clear-cut; you often work with incomplete information, shifting requirements, and stakeholders who don't yet agree on the problem - and you move things forward anyway.
Your week includes time you protect for keeping current - whether that's tracking emerging technologies, following industry shifts, or getting hands-on with a new service before a customer asks about it. You invest in the broader SA community too: mentoring a newer SA through a complex engagement or publishing a reference architecture from a recent win so others don't start from scratch. Travel is part of the rhythm - you're on-site with customers as the role requires, varying by geography and customer portfolio, because trust is built faster in person and the best architectural decisions happen at the whiteboard, not over email.
