About the Role:
As a Senior IT Engineer at Motive, you will help design, build, and scale the systems that power our global workforce, spanning end-user computing, identity and access, collaboration tooling, office and remote connectivity, and core corporate IT operations. You will report into Austin Karr, Director of IT, and serve as a senior technical contributor who improves reliability, security, and user experience while translating business needs into practical, well-engineered solutions.
This role is ideal for someone who is hands-on, systems-minded, and energized by solving difficult technical problems across multiple layers of the environment. You should be comfortable operating with broad stakeholder awareness, partnering across teams, and bringing a new perspective to existing solutions as Motive continues to scale.
What You'll Do:
- Design, implement, and improve scalable corporate IT infrastructure and services for both office-based and remote employees.
- Lead complex troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across endpoints, identity, collaboration platforms, and network layers to restore service quickly and prevent repeat issues.
- Use agentic development practices to design and build secure, scalable internal tools that automate workflows, improve employee productivity, and extend IT's ability to support the business.
- Build and maintain technical standards, documentation, and operational processes that improve reliability, security, monitoring, and supportability.
- Translate business and stakeholder needs into well-engineered solutions, partnering across departments and with third-party vendors when needed.
- Act as a subject matter expert within IT, driving projects of diverse scope and raising the bar for operational excellence across the department.
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years of experience in IT engineering, systems administration, network engineering, or a related corporate IT role.
- Expertise supporting modern corporate IT environments, including identity platforms, collaboration tools, endpoint operating systems, and device management.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute complex projects independently, identify root causes, and drive solutions that support departmental goals.
- Strong written documentation and cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to build trust and operate as a reliable technical advisor.
Creating a diverse and inclusive workplace is one of Motive's core values. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome people of different backgrounds, experiences, abilities and perspectives.

Mid Level Support Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level support engineer job?
Position your experience around ownership, not just task completion. Highlight incidents you diagnosed end to end, process improvements you drove, and situations where you mentored a colleague or led a resolution without escalating. Employers hiring at this level want evidence you can operate independently, so tailor your resume to show outcomes and scope, not just responsibilities.
Which companies hire mid level support engineers?
Companies hiring mid level support engineers right now include Axiom Technologies, ASM, and UVEye, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Hiring at this level covers established technology firms, fast-growing SaaS companies, and enterprise organizations that need engineers who can own a support function without close oversight.
Are there remote mid level support engineer jobs?
Yes, remote and hybrid options are common at this level. About 31% of mid level support engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting demand for experienced engineers who can work effectively without on-site supervision. On-site roles also exist, particularly in industries where hands-on hardware or data-center access is required.
How do I move up to a mid level support engineer role?
Getting to mid level means building depth across your first few years, not just accumulating time. Focus on owning a complete problem from alert to post-mortem, taking on documentation or knowledge-base work no one assigned you, and demonstrating measurable impact like reduced ticket volume or faster mean-time-to-resolve. Engineers who move up fastest show they have already been operating at the next level.
Which industries hire the most mid level support engineers?
Mid Level support engineer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Manufacturing, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors rely heavily on complex internal and customer-facing systems where experienced engineers who can triage, communicate, and resolve issues independently keep operations running without constant senior involvement.
