Mid Level Surgical First Assistant Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level surgical first assistant job?
Position your application around direct OR ownership rather than assisted tasks. Highlight the procedure types you have managed independently, any mentoring responsibilities, and outcomes you influenced. Certifications such as CSFA or CFA strengthen your profile, and tailoring your resume to the specialty or setting listed in each job posting makes a measurable difference at this stage.
Which companies hire mid level surgical first assistants?
Companies hiring mid level surgical first assistants right now include Ochsner Lsu Health System Of North Louisiana, Ochsner Health, and Orlando Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, and specialty surgical groups are the most active employers at this experience level.
Are there remote mid level surgical first assistant jobs?
Yes, though options are limited given the hands-on nature of the role. About 0% of mid level surgical first assistant openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions typically involve clinical education, surgical technology training, or device support roles rather than direct patient care in the OR.
How do I move up to a mid level surgical first assistant role?
The path from entry level to mid level is built on procedure volume, specialization, and demonstrated independence. Consistently handling a wider range of case types, earning a nationally recognized certification, and taking ownership of at least one area such as instrument management or resident orientation signals readiness for mid level responsibilities to most hiring teams.
Which industries hire the most mid level surgical first assistants?
Mid Level surgical first assistant roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors drive the most hiring because procedure volume and case complexity at that level require clinicians who can operate with genuine autonomy rather than close supervision.
