Entry Level Surgical Technologist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level surgical technologist job?
Employers hiring at the entry level look for completion of an accredited surgical technology program, hands-on scrub experience from clinical rotations, and Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification or active candidacy. Highlighting the specific procedures you assisted with during your externship, even in a brief case log, gives your application a concrete edge over candidates who list only coursework.
Which companies hire entry level surgical technologists?
Companies hiring entry level surgical technologists right now include Trinity Health, Advocate Aurora Health, and CHRISTUS Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and specialty surgical practices are the most active employers at this level, often hiring new graduates directly into staff scrub technologist roles.
Are there remote entry level surgical technologist jobs?
Yes, though the field is largely hands-on and on-site by nature. About 0% of entry level surgical technologist openings are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those roles typically involve surgical scheduling, central sterile processing support, or vendor and medical device training rather than direct scrub duties in the OR.
Are these new grad surgical technologist jobs?
Yes, the listings here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior surgical technologist roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts clinical externship hours in place of paid work history, or lists CST eligibility rather than requiring an active certification. Searching for these signals helps you focus on openings built for candidates at the start of their career.
Which industries hire the most entry level surgical technologists?
Entry Level surgical technologist roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors drive hiring at the entry level because they operate high surgical volume, maintain ongoing staff turnover, and have structured onboarding programs designed to bring new graduates up to speed in a supervised environment.
