Tax Attorney Jobs in Minneapolis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a tax attorney job in Minneapolis?
Focus your search on the downtown Minneapolis legal corridor, where regional and national law firms cluster alongside corporate legal departments in financial services, healthcare, and manufacturing. Candidates with LLM degrees in taxation or hands-on experience in federal and state tax controversy stand out here. Networking through the Hennepin County Bar Association and targeting in-house roles at the many Minneapolis-headquartered corporations gives you a concrete edge over applicants approaching the market generically.
Which companies hire tax attorneys in Minneapolis?
Employers hiring tax attorneys in Minneapolis right now include Intuit, KPMG, and EisnerAmper, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Minneapolis draws a wide range of employer types, from AmLaw-ranked firms with significant tax practices to in-house legal teams at large publicly traded companies headquartered in the metro.
Are there remote tax attorney jobs in Minneapolis?
Yes, though tax attorney roles skew less remote than many legal specialties because client relationships, court appearances, and in-person deal work are common. About 24% of tax attorney openings tied to Minneapolis are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with most flexibility appearing in tax advisory, compliance review, and transactional support roles rather than litigation-heavy positions.
How can I get a tax attorney job in Minneapolis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Minneapolis is a summer associate or law clerk role at a downtown firm with a dedicated tax practice group, which frequently converts to full-time offers. Regional accounting firms with legal affiliates and the Twin Cities offices of national professional services networks also hire entry-level tax attorneys for compliance and advisory work. An LLM in taxation and any hands-on experience with Minnesota Department of Revenue matters will differentiate you from other entry-level candidates.
Which industries hire the most tax attorneys in Minneapolis?
Most tax attorney openings in Minneapolis sit in Accounting & Auditing, Technology & Software, and Fintech, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Minneapolis's concentration of major financial institutions, medical device companies, and large retail and manufacturing corporations creates steady demand for tax counsel across both transactional and controversy work.
