Tax Intern Jobs in Oklahoma: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a tax intern in Oklahoma?
Most tax intern roles in Oklahoma require enrollment in an accredited accounting or finance program, typically at a university preparing students for CPA licensure through the Oklahoma Accountancy Board. Employers expect candidates to be progressing toward the credit hours required for Oklahoma CPA exam eligibility, generally a bachelor's degree plus additional accounting coursework. Internships are most commonly secured through campus recruiting at programs like those at the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, and the University of Tulsa.
Which companies hire tax interns in Oklahoma?
Companies currently hiring tax interns in Oklahoma include Eide Bailly, SSC Advisors, and Love’s Travel Stops, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Oklahoma's energy industry also creates consistent tax intern demand at oil and gas companies and their affiliated service firms headquartered in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
Which Oklahoma cities have the most tax intern jobs?
Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Norman hold the largest share of tax intern openings in Oklahoma. Oklahoma City leads because of its concentration of corporate headquarters, Big Four and regional accounting firms, and state government offices, while Tulsa's energy industry and manufacturing base drive steady demand at both public accounting firms and in-house corporate tax departments.
How can I get hired as a tax intern in Oklahoma with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying through your university's accounting program, which connects students directly to recruiting cycles at Oklahoma firms before formal experience is required. Large employers like KPMG and Deloitte run structured internship pipelines through Oklahoma campus events, and regional firms such as HoganTaylor recruit from Oklahoma State University and the University of Tulsa specifically for students in early tax coursework. Passing one or two CPA exam sections early and completing any taxation course in your accounting program signals readiness and gives you a measurable edge over candidates with identical GPAs.
