Senior Level Tax Intern Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level tax intern job?
Employers at this level look for candidates who have led tax projects from scoping through delivery, not just contributed to them. Highlight your technical depth in areas like multi-entity compliance, tax provision, or transfer pricing, and show concrete examples of mentoring junior staff or owning client relationships. A demonstrated ability to review and sign off on others' work carries significant weight.
Which companies hire senior level tax interns?
Companies hiring senior level tax interns right now include CBIZ, EisnerAmper, and BDO, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level tends to come from large public accounting firms, corporate tax departments at multinational companies, and specialized tax advisory practices that need experienced professionals to lead engagements.
Are there remote senior level tax intern jobs?
Yes, though availability varies by employer and specialization. About 28% of senior level tax intern openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the broader shift in professional services toward flexible arrangements. Roles tied to in-person client work or team leadership responsibilities are more likely to require at least partial on-site presence.
What makes a tax intern role senior level?
Senior level tax intern roles carry ownership over deliverables, not just execution of assigned tasks. That means leading the review process for returns or provisions, setting technical direction on complex issues, and guiding junior team members through unfamiliar situations. The scope extends beyond individual contribution to accountability for quality, timelines, and client or stakeholder outcomes across an engagement.
Which industries hire the most senior level tax interns?
Senior Level tax intern roles concentrate in Accounting & Auditing, Consulting & Professional Services, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive demand because of their regulatory complexity, high transaction volume, and the need for experienced tax professionals who can operate independently and bring technical credibility to client-facing or leadership situations.
