Mid Level Tax Professional Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level tax professional job?
Position yourself around ownership and accuracy: highlight returns you managed independently, client relationships you maintained, and any process improvements you led. Tailor your resume to show depth in a specific area, whether that is individual tax, corporate compliance, or state and local filings. Employers at this level want to see that you can handle a full workload with limited supervision, so concrete outcomes matter more than titles.
Which companies hire mid level tax professionals?
Companies hiring mid level tax professionals right now include Intuit, Brown & McCook, and Bank of America, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a wide mix of public accounting firms, regional CPA practices, and in-house corporate tax departments across industries that carry significant compliance obligations.
Are there remote mid level tax professional jobs?
Yes, remote and hybrid options are available at this level. About 17% of mid level tax professional openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how many firms have made flexible arrangements permanent for experienced preparers and analysts who can manage client work and deadlines independently.
How do I move up to a mid level tax professional role?
Progression into mid level typically follows a few consistent steps: building comfort with complex return types, taking ownership of client files rather than just supporting a senior preparer, and demonstrating measurable accuracy and efficiency over time. Earning credentials like a CPA or Enrolled Agent designation accelerates the move, as does proactively seeking projects that require independent judgment rather than waiting to be assigned them.
Which industries hire the most mid level tax professionals?
Mid Level tax professional roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Banking & Financial Services, and Investment & Asset Management, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Those sectors tend to carry high transaction volumes, multi-entity structures, or complex regulatory reporting requirements that create steady demand for experienced tax practitioners who can work with limited oversight.
