The Role

RedMane has a full-time opportunity for a Technical/Functional Architect as we continue to grow our Chicago based practice.

We are seeking an experienced Technical/Functional Architect to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of finance systems (ERP or financial platforms). This role bridges business and technology, ensuring financial processes are translated into scalable, compliant, and high-performing system solutions.

The architect will work closely with finance stakeholders, business teams, and engineering teams to deliver end-to-end financial system solutions that support organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Architecture & Solution Design
2. Lead the design of finance system solutions (e.g., GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Budgeting), including data flows, integrations, and reporting.

3. Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.

4. Finance Functional Leadership

5. Translate finance business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
6. Conduct fit-gap analysis, define accounting rules and workflows, and optimize processes across core finance modules.

7. Support alignment with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

8. Delivery, Integration & Technical Oversight

9. Guide full lifecycle delivery from requirements through design, build, test, and go-live.
10. Design integrations with upstream and downstream systems (HR, procurement, BI, external interfaces) using APIs and middleware.

11. Provide technical guidance to development teams and ensure data integrity, performance, and security.

12. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

13. Act as the liaison between Finance, IT, and business stakeholders, translating complex concepts into business-friendly language.
14. Facilitate requirements and architecture workshops.
15. Define best practices and identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and process improvement.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

- System integrations (APIs, middleware)
- Understanding of cloud architectures and enterprise systems

Architecture & Delivery

- Experience designing enterprise or ERP solutions end-to-end
- Strong experience in solution architecture, integration design, and system lifecycle
- Ability to align technical solutions with business strategy

Soft Skills

- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking
- Ability to balance business needs with technical feasibility

Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of financial processes:
- General Ledger, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Project Accounting
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, compliance, and reporting
- Prior experience as ERP/Finance Architect or Techno-Functional Consultant
- Experience in large-scale transformation or ERP implementation projects
- Experience in government/public sector financial systems
- MS Dynamics

Travel Requirements

The position may involve periodic travel to client locations within the US.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $150,000/year to $230,000/year.
