Technician Jobs in San Jose: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a technician job in San Jose?
Focus your search on North San Jose's semiconductor and electronics corridor, the medical device companies clustered near downtown, and the defense contractors in the South Bay. Employers here consistently prioritize hands-on lab or field experience, familiarity with industry-specific equipment, and any certifications tied to your specialty. Applying directly to roles posted by established manufacturers and research campuses in the area gives you the strongest footing.
Which companies hire technicians in San Jose?

Are there remote technician jobs in San Jose?
Yes, but only in a narrow slice of the field. Most technician work in San Jose involves hands-on equipment, lab environments, or on-site manufacturing floors, which limits remote options significantly. About 6% of technician openings tied to San Jose are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions typically cover technical documentation, support coordination, or software-adjacent roles rather than physical testing or assembly work.
How can I get a technician job in San Jose with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Jose is targeting technician associate or technician trainee roles at mid-size electronics manufacturers and contract manufacturing firms in the North San Jose and Alviso areas, which regularly bring on candidates from community college programs at Evergreen Valley College and San Jose City College. Familiarity with basic test equipment, cleanroom protocols, or ESD safety practices gives entry-level candidates a measurable edge with local employers over those with no technical exposure.
