We are launching a new commercial roofing company focused on servicing institutional and large commercial real estate owners, and we are looking for an experienced Director of Commercial Roofing Operations to help build the business from the ground up.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands commercial roofing from initial inspection and estimating through subcontractor management, project execution, quality control, and closeout.
The right person will help us establish the operational foundation of the company and will have significant opportunity to grow with the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect commercial roofs and develop scopes of work
- Estimate and bid reroofing, repair, maintenance, and coating projects
- Review plans, specifications, budgets, and construction documents
- Source, vet, schedule, and manage qualified roofing subcontractors and crews
- Coordinate materials, procurement, project schedules, and jobsite logistics
- Manage projects from award through completion, including budgets, change orders, billing, and closeout
- Conduct site visits and oversee workmanship, quality control, and safety
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, OSHA requirements, manufacturer specifications, and warranty requirements
- Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, manufacturers, and suppliers
- Help develop the company's estimating, project management, safety, and operating systems as we scale
Ideal Experience:
- Significant commercial roofing experience, ideally in estimating, project management, operations, or branch management
- Strong knowledge of commercial roofing systems including TPO, PVC, EPDM, modified bitumen, coatings, and related systems
- Proven estimating and cost-control experience
- Ability to read plans, specifications, and technical drawings
- Experience managing subcontractors, field crews, schedules, and multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong understanding of roofing safety, quality assurance, warranties, and construction regulations
- Experience with roofing or construction software such as Procore, Bluebeam, estimating platforms, or similar systems is helpful but not required
- Entrepreneurial, resourceful, and comfortable helping build a company rather than simply stepping into an established corporate structure
Compensation:
$125,000–$160,000 base salary, depending on experience, plus performance-based bonus.
Potential equity or long-term incentive participation may be available for an exceptional candidate.
