Roofing Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a roofing contractor in Texas?
To work as a roofing contractor in Texas, you must register with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which administers the state's roofing contractor registration program. Applicants must submit proof of general liability insurance and pass a background check. No formal exam is required for registration, but many employers expect hands-on experience with roofing systems. Individual roofers hired as employees do not need their own registration.
Which companies hire roofings in Texas?
Texas roofing roles are posted by Chamberlin Roofing & Waterproofing, Tecta America, and Results Roofing and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Texas's high volume of new construction and frequent hail and storm events supports a broad mix of national roofing contractors and regional restoration specialists with ongoing hiring needs.
Which Texas cities have the most roofing jobs?
Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio have the most roofing openings in Texas right now. Houston's size and its vulnerability to tropical storms and hail drives constant restoration demand, while Dallas-Fort Worth's booming residential and commercial construction supports large roofing crews year-round, and San Antonio's steady population growth keeps mid-size contractors actively hiring.
Are there remote roofing jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. About 31% of roofing openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the hands-on, site-based nature of most roofing work. The roles most likely to allow remote or hybrid arrangements are estimating, project management, and sales positions rather than installation and repair work.
How can I get hired as a roofer in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a laborer or roofing helper position with a mid-size or large roofing contractor in Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, or San Antonio, where crews are regularly expanding. Many Texas contractors run informal on-the-job training, and some larger firms partner with local workforce centers through apprenticeship programs registered with the Texas Workforce Commission. Earning an OSHA 10 card before applying gives candidates a concrete edge over other entry-level applicants.
Where can I find and apply to roofing jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to roofing jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
