Roofing Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a roofing contractor in Florida?
Florida requires roofing contractors to hold a state-issued license issued by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. You must pass the Florida roofing contractor exam, demonstrate financial responsibility, and document field experience. Helpers and laborers can work under a licensed contractor without holding their own license, but anyone pulling permits or running a crew independently must be licensed through the state.
Which companies hire roofings in Florida?
Florida roofing roles are posted by Advanced Roofing, 3MG Roofing & Solar, and Tecta America and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's combination of hurricane season repair work and year-round new construction keeps a wide range of commercial roofing contractors, residential installers, and restoration companies hiring consistently.
Which Florida cities have the most roofing jobs?
Tampa, Jacksonville, and Fort Myers have the most roofing openings in Florida. Miami leads because of its dense commercial construction and ongoing storm restoration activity, while Tampa and Orlando reflect the rapid residential and warehouse development that has defined both metros over the past several years.
Are there remote roofing jobs in Florida?
Yes, but they're rare. Roofing is a hands-on trade and the vast majority of roles require physical presence on a job site. About 14% of roofing openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those positions are almost entirely in estimating, project management, or sales roles rather than installation work.
How can I get hired as a roofing worker in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is joining a roofing crew as a laborer or helper and working under a licensed contractor while building hands-on skills. Large Florida roofing companies and construction firms regularly hire entry-level helpers with no prior experience, particularly during peak storm season. Completing an apprenticeship through an Associated Builders and Contractors Florida chapter or a local union hall gives candidates a credential that moves them ahead of untrained applicants.
Where can I find and apply to roofing jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to roofing jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings from contractors, restoration companies, and commercial builders across the state. Find roles that fit your experience and location, then apply directly to the employer.
