FLOW is an award-winning Southern California water feature specialist designing, building, and maintaining nature-inspired ponds, waterfalls, streams, and fountains.

We're looking for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in craftsmanship, enjoys solving problems, and wants to develop a specialized skill set in the water feature industry.

This position begins with a combination of construction and maintenance, giving you the opportunity to learn how our water features are built from the ground up. As your knowledge and experience grow, the goal is to transition you into a full-time Water Feature Maintenance Technician—becoming the trusted specialist responsible for keeping our clients' water features beautiful and thriving year after year.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving problems, interacting directly with homeowners, and building long-term client relationships—not simply moving from one construction project to the next.

Primary ResponsibilitiesWater Feature Maintenance — Primary Focus

As you develop your skills, maintenance and service will become the primary focus of your position. Responsibilities include:

• Perform routine maintenance on ponds, waterfalls, streams, fountains, and water gardens
• Remove leaves, algae, sediment, and organic debris
• Clean skimmers, filters, pump vaults, and other filtration components
• Complete seasonal pond clean-outs and ecosystem restorations
• Inspect pumps, plumbing, filtration systems, lighting, automatic dosing systems, and other equipment
• Diagnose problems and perform basic repairs
• Monitor overall pond and water feature conditions and recommend appropriate treatments or corrective actions
• Identify potential problems before they develop into larger repairs
• Safely handle fish when required during clean-outs and service
• Maintain accurate service records and time tracking
• Keep service vehicles clean, organized, and properly stocked
• Provide professional, friendly customer service during every visit

Maintenance work can be wet, muddy, dirty, and physically demanding. You should be comfortable working around algae, fish waste, insects, decomposing organic material, mud, and other conditions associated with ponds and outdoor water features.

Construction Support — Training & Development

Initially, you will also work alongside our construction team building custom water features. This hands-on experience is an important part of learning how the systems you'll eventually maintain actually work.

Responsibilities may include:

• Assist with construction of custom ponds, pondless waterfalls, fountains, and streams
• Learn excavation, plumbing, liner installation, filtration, pumps, and water circulation
• Assist with rock and boulder placement
• Learn waterfall and stream construction techniques
• Assist with lighting, equipment installation, and final detailing
• Help with planting, grading, mulching, and landscape restoration
• Load and unload tools, equipment, rock, and materials
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized jobsites

Understanding how a water feature is built will give you the knowledge needed to confidently diagnose problems, perform repairs, and eventually service systems independently.

Customer Service & Career Growth

As you develop into a Lead Maintenance Technician, you'll become the primary point of contact for many of our clients.

You'll learn to recognize opportunities to improve their water features, including:

• Repairing or replacing aging equipment
• Improving filtration and water circulation
• Upgrading pumps or increasing energy efficiency
• Adding or upgrading LED lighting
• Improving waterfalls and streams
• Expanding existing ponds
• Adding fish caves and other ecosystem improvements
• Improving aquatic and surrounding plantings
• Recommending appropriate water treatments and maintenance programs
• Assisting with estimates for recommended repairs and improvements

We want our maintenance technicians to do more than simply clean ponds. Our goal is to develop knowledgeable Water Feature Specialists who understand the systems, earn the client's trust, and can confidently recommend solutions when something can be improved.

As your responsibilities grow, there will be opportunities to increase your earnings through performance bonuses and commissions generated from maintenance agreements, repairs, upgrades, and enhancement sales.

Additional Responsibilities

• Maintain company vehicles, trailers, tools, and equipment
• Assist with inventory and material organization
• Restock maintenance supplies and service vehicles
• Report vehicle, equipment, or tool maintenance needs
• Participate in company and industry training
• Follow company safety procedures and best practices
• Assist other team members when needed
• Perform additional duties as assigned

QualificationsRequired

• 18 years of age or older
• Valid California driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable
• Available Monday–Friday, generally 7:00 AM–5:00 PM, with schedule variations as needed
• Comfortable performing physical work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Comfortable getting wet, muddy, and dirty
• Ability to travel to customer properties throughout our Southern California service area
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Ability to follow directions and learn new skills
• Able to work independently as responsibilities increase
• Team-oriented with a commitment to quality workmanship

Preferred

• Experience in landscaping, construction, irrigation, plumbing, mechanical work, or property maintenance
• Pond or water feature experience is a plus, but not required—we will train the right person
• Customer service or sales experience is a plus
• Mechanical aptitude and an interest in troubleshooting are highly valued

Physical Requirements

This is an active, physically demanding outdoor position. You must be able to:

• Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Frequently bend, kneel, squat, climb, push, pull, and work on uneven terrain
• Work inside drained or partially drained ponds and water features
• Perform physically demanding work throughout an 8–10 hour workday
• Safely work around water, power tools, excavation equipment, rock, and heavy materials
• Work outdoors in heat, cold, sun, rain, mud, and dust
