How You Will Make An Impact

• Perform routine tasks, tests, and computations associated with construction materials testing and field observations under the supervision of the Project Engineer/Project Manager. This will include sampling and testing of concrete, soils, asphalt, and other construction materials on construction projects.
• Complete and submit accurate Daily Field Reports.
• Assist engineering staff with field monitoring activities.
• Independently operate relevant testing/monitoring equipment.
• Perform other tasks, as necessary.

What You Bring to The Team

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred certifications include:
• o ACI/MCA Concrete Testing Technician Level I or above
• o MDOT Density Technology Certification
• Certifications considered a plus:
• o Aggregate Sampling Certification
• o HMA Sampling for Local Agencies Certification
• o Floor Flatness Testing
• o ICC Special Inspection Certifications
• o AWS Certified Welding Inspector
• Ten or more years of field experience in construction including concrete, soils and pavement testing.
• Ability and experience in training and mentoring fellow staff to enhance technical competency, professional development, and project performance.
• Ability to review activities on construction sites
• Demonstrate ability to make preliminary evaluations and provide opinions (cause and corrective action) on tasks/problems to NTH’s Project Engineer and/or Project Manager
• Ability to read and interpret design drawings, specifications, MDOT requirements, and other construction documents
• Must have strong written and oral communication skills, be able to work in a team environment as well as independently, team-oriented approach to problem-solving, and have strong interpersonal skills for contact with clients and fellow engineers/technicians
• Accuracy, dependability, and strong organizational skills
• Exceptional time management skills, ability to manage multiple assignments at any given time, and have ability to work in a team environment
• Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel to and conduct field work at job sites/offices in Michigan.
