INTRODUCTION
Drive the future of A&Q Technology Transformation at Pearson as part of Technology Business Partnering, OCTO team. Inspire growth. Empower learning.
Pearson, the world’s leading learning company, is hiring a Technology Business Partner – A&Q to serve as the strategic leader for our A&Q Leadership Community representing OCTO at Pearson.
In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with A&Q business stakeholders to understand their strategic objectives, assess technology needs, and guide IT solutions that support business growth and efficiency. You will ensure technology initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business priorities. You will act as a trusted advisor, aligning OCTO initiatives with business objectives to drive value and innovation. Your role will involve strategic alignment, relationship management, and a focus on delivering measurable business outcomes.
We are looking for a future focused Techno-Business leader —a strategic thinker that combines deep technical expertise, large-scale operational leadership, experience leading through AI enabled modernization, and a strong alignment with the mission of Pearson —helping people realize the lives they imagine through learning. Join us and play a key part in shaping a future-focused workplace—your leadership will make an impact felt across the entire organisation.
As a key member at OCTO and Pearson, you will be expected to embody, and role model our leadership dimensions:
Live Our Purpose: You align your values, actions, and goals with Pearson’s mission. You inspire others by articulating a compelling vision, connecting daily work to our broader purpose, and making decisions that reflect a deep understanding of our strategy.
Simplify the Complexity: You navigate ambiguity and distill complexity into clear, actionable plans. You help teams understand how their work contributes to strategic goals, enabling focus, clarity, and effective execution in a dynamic environment.
Carry Our Culture: You foster a culture of customer centricity, high performance, and exceptional collaboration. You lead with integrity, empower others, and build inclusive, high-performing teams that reflect Pearson’s values and behaviors.
Deliver Results: You set ambitious goals and execute with quality, precision, and speed. You hold yourself and others accountable for outcomes, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and delivering measurable impact for learners and stakeholders.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Alignment: Work with business unit leaders to understand their objectives, challenges, market context, and technology requirements. Translate business goals into technology strategies and roadmaps, ensuring OCTO initiatives are aligned with A&Q business priorities.
- Trusted Advisor: Provide expert advice on technology investments, digital transformation, and architecture. Offer guidelines on the effective use of IT services vendors and technology partners.
- Relationship & Communication: Bridge OCTO (Office of the CTO) teams and business units, conveying technology capabilities, constraints, and benefits clearly. Build trust through transparency and active listening, keeping business engaged with OCTO initiatives.
- Focus on Business Outcomes: Collaborate with the OCTO group to ensure technology initiatives support strategic business goals. Prioritize initiatives based on their potential to deliver measurable business outcomes.
- Own and execute the long-term vision for A&Q aligned with company-wide Technology goals and the broader organizational mission.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, automation, operational rigor, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as a key member of the Technology Business Partner Leadership team, providing thought leadership across technology, product, and HR.
- Play an advisory role in implementing artificial intelligence solutions to address critical A&Q technology challenges, streamline processes, improve the end user experience, and optimize efficiency within software development and technology operations.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Technology Strategy & Architecture: Ability to develop and implement technology strategies that align with business goals.
- Leadership and Collaboration: A collaborative, inclusive, empathetic leadership style with a track record of inspiring teams and driving cultural growth.
- Adapt AI and Best Practices: Leveraging AI and industry best practices to drive integrated delivery tailored to the specific needs of each business division. This involves using advanced technologies and methodologies to ensure that technology solutions are delivered efficiently and effectively.
- Integrated Delivery: Ensuring that delivery processes are cohesive and aligned with business objectives. This means that all aspects of the delivery process, from planning to execution, are coordinated to achieve the desired business outcomes.
- Tailored Solutions: Customizing delivery approaches to meet the unique requirements of different business divisions. This involves understanding the specific needs and challenges of each division and adapting delivery methods accordingly.
- Continuous Improvement: Implementing a culture of continuous improvement where delivery processes are regularly reviewed and refined to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. This includes adopting new technologies and practices that can improve delivery outcomes.
- Outcome-Driven Approach: Focusing on delivering measurable business outcomes rather than just completing projects. This means prioritizing initiatives that have the potential to drive significant business value and ensuring that delivery efforts are aligned with these priorities.
- Business roles: Experience in spearheading technology transformation initiatives working with C-suite leadership specifically leading large-scale Technology transformation projects is preferred.
