TN Visa CAD Designer Jobs
CAD Designer roles qualify for TN visa sponsorship under the USMCA for Canadian and Mexican professionals with a degree in engineering, drafting, or a related technical field. For Canadians, your employer provides a support letter you present at the U.S. border; for Mexicans, apply at a U.S. consulate with the letter. No lottery, no cap for Canadians.

About the Data Center Infrastructure (DCI) Team:
The DCI team consists of technical subject matter experts who specialize in end-to-end large scale physical infrastructure that powers and enables modern data centers. This includes power distribution systems such as transformers, substations, generators, switchgear, switch panels, busways, ATS units, EDPM, BMS systems, and control panels, as well as cooling solutions ranging from traditional evaporative and indirect cooling systems to emerging liquid cooling technologies including chillers, heat exchangers, CDUs, pumps, and secondary fluid networks. The team also addresses the mechanical structures that house these systems - hot aisle containment, steel enclosures, blanking panels, cable trays, and fiber and networking infrastructure.
The DCI team operates as a cross-industry center of excellence, partnering primarily with various cloud providers across the industry. Team members function as deeply technical subject matter experts who engage directly with customers and supply chain partners to assess requirements, identify challenges, and design infrastructure solutions end-to-end. The ideal contributor brings engineering-level expertise in either power or cooling disciplines, a working knowledge of the full infrastructure dependency chain, and the ability to translate that expertise into clear recommendations and collaborative problem-solving with both technical and business stakeholders.
The pay range for this role is $105,100 - $189,200. Job-related, non-discriminatory factors used to determine the actual offered rate include qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity. The anticipated close date of this job requisition is: May 31, 2026.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a CAD Designer
Verify your credential matches the role
TN status requires your degree field to align with the CAD Designer position. A mechanical engineering or industrial design degree supports most postings, but a general business degree won't. Confirm the job description lists a specific technical discipline before you apply.
Gather employer support documentation early
Ask your prospective employer to draft a support letter detailing your role, duration of employment, and the technical specialty involved. CBP officers at the port of entry will review this letter alongside your credentials when you apply as a Canadian.
Target manufacturers and engineering consultancies first
Firms in automotive, aerospace, and civil infrastructure regularly sponsor TN professionals for CAD roles because these projects require licensed design outputs. Search by sector rather than job title to surface employers already familiar with the TN sponsorship process.
Confirm employer support letter before your start date
Your employer must prepare a support letter documenting your role and qualifications before you can apply for TN status. As a Canadian, you'll present this letter at the U.S. border or port of entry; if you're Mexican, your employer submits it with your consulate application. Request the support letter as soon as your offer is signed to ensure a smooth processing timeline.
Use Migrate Mate to find CAD Designer roles with TN visa sponsorship
Search Migrate Mate to find CAD Designer positions where employers are already open to TN sponsorship. Filtering by visa type saves time and surfaces roles where you won't need to educate the hiring team about the process from scratch.
Prepare for the TN annotation on your passport
At the Canadian port of entry, CBP approves TN status on the spot and annotates your passport rather than issuing a separate document. Mexicans apply at a U.S. consulate and receive a visa stamp. Carry copies of all documents in case of secondary inspection.

Find CAD Designer JobsCAD Designer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a CAD Designer role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, CAD Designer positions typically qualify under the USMCA's engineer or draftsperson categories, provided your degree aligns with the technical specialty in the job description. CBP officers evaluate the connection between your credentials and the offered role at the time of entry, so a clearly scoped support letter and a matching degree field are both required.
How does the TN visa compare to the H-1B for CAD Designer jobs?
The TN visa has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and can be applied for at a port of entry with same-day approval. The H-1B requires employer sponsorship, USCIS filing, and entry into a lottery that selects only a fraction of applicants each year. For CAD Designers who are Canadian or Mexican citizens and have a qualifying degree, TN is a faster and more predictable path.
How can I find CAD Designer jobs where employers already understand TN sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search CAD Designer roles filtered by TN visa sponsorship, so you're only seeing employers who have already indicated openness to the process. This matters because many hiring managers confuse TN with H-1B and incorrectly assume a lottery or lengthy filing is involved. Starting with employers who know the difference cuts down the education barrier significantly.
Can I switch employers after entering the U.S. on a TN visa as a CAD Designer?
Yes, but TN status is employer-specific. If you change jobs, your new employer needs to support a fresh TN application before you begin working for them. Canadians can do this at a port of entry. Mexicans need to apply at a U.S. consulate for a new visa stamp. You cannot start work with a new employer on your existing TN authorization.
What happens if my CAD Designer TN application is refused at the border?
CBP officers have discretion to refuse TN admission if your credentials don't clearly support the offered role or if the support letter is vague about your duties. A refusal at the border doesn't carry the same consequences as a USCIS denial, but it does mean you return to Canada or Mexico and must reapply. Strengthening the employer support letter and ensuring your degree is in a recognized technical field reduces this risk significantly.
