Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a UX Research Manager
Frame your credentials around social scientist designation
TN classification for UX Research Managers falls under Social Scientists, so your degree documentation needs to show social science, psychology, or a related field. A portfolio alone won't satisfy CBP. Lead with your transcript and degree certificate.
Target companies with dedicated research operations
UX Research Managers are most common at organizations with standalone research functions separate from design. Focus your search on employers who list research as a standalone team, not embedded within UX or product.
Use Migrate Mate to filter roles by employer visa experience
Searching broadly wastes time on employers unfamiliar with TN classification. Migrate Mate surfaces UX Research Manager jobs from companies with recent visa filings, so you target interviews where the sponsorship process is already understood.
Get your support letter to specify research leadership scope
CBP officers evaluate whether your role genuinely falls under social science work. Ask your employer's offer letter to name specific research methodologies you'll direct, such as usability studies, ethnographic research, or survey design programs.
Clarify Mexican TN annual limits early in negotiations
Mexican citizens face a 5,500 annual TN cap. If you're negotiating a start date late in the fiscal year, confirm your employer's timeline accounts for consular appointment backlogs, which can extend several weeks beyond initial scheduling.
Resolve mixed-degree situations before the border or consulate
If your degree is in a field adjacent to social science, such as information science or cognitive science, prepare a credential evaluation from a NACES-member organization. CBP and consular officers aren't bound to accept adjacent fields without documentation.

Find UX Research Manager JobsUX Research Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a UX Research Manager role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, UX Research Managers can qualify under the TN visa's Social Scientists category, which covers professionals applying social science principles to understand human behavior. Your degree must be in social science, psychology, or a closely related field. The role description in your employer's support letter must emphasize research methodology and behavioral analysis, not product management or design.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for UX Research Manager roles?
TN has no lottery and no annual cap for Canadian citizens, so you can start the process whenever you have a job offer. H-1B requires entering a random lottery each April, with selections announced months before the October start date. For UX Research Managers who qualify under the Social Scientists category, TN is a faster and more predictable path than H-1B for most candidates.
Where can I find UX Research Manager jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking U.S. roles with TN visa sponsorship. Rather than manually screening job listings, Migrate Mate surfaces positions from employers with TN sponsorship experience, which reduces the risk of pursuing opportunities with companies unfamiliar with the visa category.
What documents do I need for a UX Research Manager TN application at the Canadian border?
You need a valid Canadian passport, a support letter from your U.S. employer on company letterhead describing your role and its connection to social science, proof of your qualifying degree, and the TN filing fee. The letter must specifically describe your research duties and the employer's business need. Canadians can apply at a port of entry without a prior consular appointment.
Can my employer sponsor TN status if they haven't done it before?
Yes, TN sponsorship doesn't require prior experience on the employer's part. Unlike H-1B, there's no USCIS petition for Canadians, so the employer's main obligation is providing a compliant support letter. Mexican applicants require a consular appointment, but the process is still employer-driven. Many first-time TN sponsors work through immigration counsel to draft the required documentation correctly.
