Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Graphic Designer
Translate your portfolio into U.S. specialty occupation language
TN eligibility requires your role to meet the specialty occupation standard. Frame your portfolio and resume around tasks that require a bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, or a closely related field, not general creative skills.
Target employers with recent visa sponsorship experience
Studios, in-house brand teams at mid-to-large companies, and digital agencies frequently sponsor work visas for design roles. Look for employers with recent visa filings—this demonstrates they have experience with visa sponsorship generally. For TN sponsorship, eligible Canadians can present an employer support letter directly at the U.S. port of entry, while eligible Mexicans apply through a U.S. consulate. Employers experienced with visa sponsorship are often equipped to prepare the necessary support documentation.
Search for TN-sponsored Graphic Designer roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings by TN visa sponsorship so you can focus on employers already set up to hire Canadian and Mexican designers. Start there before spending time on roles where sponsorship isn't confirmed.
Get your degree equivalency documented before your interview
If your design degree is from a Canadian or Mexican institution, have a credential evaluation completed ahead of any offer. U.S. employers and CBP officers need to confirm your credential meets the bachelor's-level requirement for the role.
Ask the employer to tie the job offer to specific design deliverables
A vague offer letter describing general creative work can create problems at the port of entry. The offer letter should specify that the role requires a degree in graphic design or a directly related field and describe the core duties precisely.

Find Graphic Designer JobsGraphic Designer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Graphic Designer role actually qualify for a TN visa?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, or a closely related field. The TN category covers graphic designers when the job duties are design-specific and degree-dependent. Roles that treat the degree as optional or accept any bachelor's degree regardless of field are harder to support under TN standards.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Graphic Designer positions?
TN is significantly more accessible for Graphic Designers. There's no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and Canadians can get status approved at a port of entry the same day they cross the border. H-1B requires an employer petition, a registration lottery in March, and months of USCIS processing. For a qualifying design role, TN is the faster and more predictable path.
What documents does my employer need to file for TN sponsorship as a Graphic Designer?
Your employer prepares a support letter describing your duties and confirming the position requires a bachelor's degree in design or related field. For Canadians, you present this letter at the U.S. port of entry when crossing the border. Mexican nationals apply for TN status at a U.S. consulate with the same documentation. The support letter is the key document—it establishes that your role qualifies under TN professional categories and that you meet the educational requirements.
How can I find Graphic Designer jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces Graphic Designer roles from employers who are open to TN visa sponsorship, so you're not guessing about which postings are accessible to Canadian or Mexican professionals. Filtering by TN eligibility saves time you'd otherwise spend applying to roles where sponsorship was never on the table.
Can I switch Graphic Designer employers while on a TN visa?
Yes, but you can't simply transfer your existing TN status. Your new employer needs to prepare a fresh support letter documenting your role and qualifications. Canadians can present this letter at the U.S. port of entry when they next cross the border to get the new TN approved. You should not start work with the new employer until the new TN is approved.
