Become a part of our caring community
We are seeking a Senior User Interface Design Engineer to craft intuitive, high-trust digital experiences across our clinical tools and care-facing platforms. You'll balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution within your product area — from discovery to pixel-perfect delivery — while bringing an AI-fluent mindset as design tooling evolves.
You'll join a lean, high-impact design team of two supporting design across all of CenterWell IT, reporting to the Director, Technology Solutions while aligning on design system and overall standards with the Lead UI Designer. You'll work closely with product, engineering, and clinical stakeholders to solve complex healthcare workflows that reduce cognitive load for care teams and provide clarity for patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end design for assigned product verticals — from discovery through pixel-perfect delivery — including workflow design, information architecture, and interface design for data-dense, human-in-the-loop clinical workflows.
- Support and contribute to design systems, patterns, and scalable design standards.
- Present design recommendations and rationale to stakeholders, incorporating feedback and building alignment across teams.
- Build interactive, high-fidelity prototypes to demonstrate complex interactions and validate user flows. Contribute to evolving how AI-assisted tools are incorporated into the design process as internal tooling access expands.
- Plan and execute qualitative user research, usability testing, and feedback sessions with users and stakeholders to validate design decisions and iterate rapidly.
- Accessibility & Health Literacy: Champion WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and plain-language design principles, ensuring interfaces are inclusive across varying levels of digital and health literacy.
- Healthcare & Compliance Focus: Design with deep sensitivity to privacy, patient trust, and regulatory requirements.
Use your skills to make an impact
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on product design experience (UI/UX) delivering digital products, web applications, or complex enterprise platforms from concept to launch, with a strong portfolio of complex interfaces demonstrating visual hierarchy and clean execution for data-dense applications.
- Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Expert-level Figma skills (auto-layout, tokens, component variables, interactive prototyping).
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution — bringing informed perspective and problem-solving to your product area while operating within established design system and standards.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, navigate ambiguous requirements, and maintain high design quality and output in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
- Outstanding communication skills: able to articulate design decisions, present to cross-functional stakeholders, and discuss technical constraints and tradeoffs directly with engineers.
- Demonstrated success using design to improve business and customer outcomes, such as patient satisfaction, engagement, retention, or operational efficiency.
- AI Fluency: Understanding of how AI-driven features behave in-product (latency handling, confidence scoring, human-in-the-loop workflows) and genuine interest in AI-assisted design tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing within clinical, healthcare, or health-tech environments, or in other regulated/high-stakes domains.
- Experience designing interfaces for complex data pipelines, dynamic real-time data, or decision-support tools.

Frame your portfolio around systems-level design
TN visa adjudicators evaluate whether your role qualifies as a Computer Systems Analyst function. Organize your portfolio to highlight information architecture, design systems, and user flows rather than purely visual or brand work, which is harder to defend at the border.
Verify your degree field matches the petition
A degree in graphic design alone can raise questions at a TN entry. Degrees in computer science, human-computer interaction, or information systems map more cleanly to the Computer Systems Analyst category and reduce the chance of a secondary inspection.
Target employers with active design systems teams
Companies running in-house design systems are more likely to frame UI Designer roles in technical, systems-facing terms that satisfy TN requirements. Use Migrate Mate to filter for employers who actively sponsor TN visas for design and technology roles.
Confirm your employer will provide a TN support letter
Your employer's support letter must describe your duties in systems-analyst language, not just visual design tasks. Ask hiring managers or HR to confirm they can provide this before accepting an offer, since the letter is required at the port of entry for Canadian applicants.
Prepare for port-of-entry questioning on your specific duties
CBP officers review TN petitions at the border and can ask detailed questions about your day-to-day responsibilities. Bring a one-page role summary that maps your UI Designer duties to the Computer Systems Analyst occupation definition to support your case.
Understand how Mexican TN processing differs from Canadian
Mexican citizens must apply at a U.S. consulate rather than a port of entry and are subject to a 5,500 annual TN cap. Start the consular appointment process early, as wait times vary significantly by location and season.
UI Designer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a UI Designer role qualify for a TN visa?
UI Designer positions can qualify under the TN Computer Systems Analyst category, but the role description matters. Adjudicators look for duties tied to analyzing systems requirements and designing user-facing interfaces that integrate with software systems. Roles focused primarily on branding or print design are harder to defend. Your employer's support letter needs to frame your responsibilities in systems-analyst terms to support the petition.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for UI Designer roles?
The TN visa has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and can be obtained at a port of entry the same day for Canadians. H-1B visa requires a lottery registration, a multi-month adjudication process, and an October 1 start date. For UI Designers who qualify under the Computer Systems Analyst category, TN is generally faster and more predictable than H-1B.
Where can I find UI Designer jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals searching for U.S. jobs with TN visa sponsorship. You can filter by job category and visa type to surface employers with recent visa filings and experience with work visa sponsorship, saving you time compared to applying broadly and asking each employer individually whether they support TN sponsorship.
Can I switch employers on a TN visa as a UI Designer?
Yes, but you must obtain a new TN authorization before starting with the new employer. Canadian citizens can get a new TN at a port of entry when changing jobs. Mexican citizens need to go back through the consular process. You cannot simply transfer your existing TN status the way some other visa categories allow, so plan your timeline carefully around your start date.
What documents do I need to support a UI Designer TN application?
You need a job offer letter describing your duties in Computer Systems Analyst terms, proof of your qualifying degree or credentials, and a valid Canadian or Mexican passport. If your degree is in a field like graphic design rather than a computer-related discipline, a credential evaluation that draws the connection to systems analysis work can strengthen your application at the port of entry or consulate.
