Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Senior Designer
Align your portfolio to specialty occupation standards
TN approval hinges on proving the role requires a design degree, not just design skills. Curate portfolio pieces that show degree-level conceptual thinking and include your official transcripts alongside every application package.
Target employers with recent visa sponsorship experience
Companies with recent visa filings for design roles understand the work visa sponsorship process. Searching for employers experienced with visa sponsorship helps identify companies familiar with hiring international talent in creative roles.
Clarify the specialty occupation case before accepting an offer
Ask the hiring manager whether the role description specifies a degree in a design-related field as a requirement, not a preference. A job posting that says 'bachelor's preferred' can sink a TN petition before it starts.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsoring employers
Migrate Mate surfaces Senior Designer roles from employers with confirmed TN and H-1B sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with the process. Filter by role and visa type to reach the right hiring teams faster.
Prepare a support letter that maps your degree to the role
Canadian applicants entering at the border need an employer support letter that explicitly connects the Senior Designer title to a specific design discipline. CBP officers are not required to infer the connection; your documents must make it explicit.
Confirm Mexican citizens' consular appointment timeline early
Mexican nationals cannot use expedited land-border entry for TN. Factor in U.S. consulate appointment wait times in Mexico when negotiating a start date with your employer, since delays beyond your control can affect your offer.

Find Senior Designer JobsSenior Designer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior Designer role actually qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, if the position requires a bachelor's degree in a design-related field such as graphic design, industrial design, or visual communications. The TN category covers positions in architecture and engineering-adjacent creative disciplines. Roles where any bachelor's degree suffices regardless of field are harder to qualify, so the job description wording matters significantly.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for Senior Designer roles?
TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and no multi-month USCIS petition wait. A Canadian Senior Designer can be approved at the border the same day with the right documents. H-1B requires an April lottery, a lengthy petition process, and employer-paid USCIS fees. For Canadian and Mexican designers, TN is typically faster and more predictable than H-1B.
What documents does a Senior Designer need to support a TN application?
You need a job offer letter that names your title, describes the design-specific duties, confirms the degree requirement, and states your anticipated start date. Alongside that, bring your original degree credential, official transcripts, and any professional certifications relevant to the role. Canadian applicants present these at a U.S. port of entry; Mexican nationals submit them at a U.S. consulate.
Where can I find Senior Designer jobs that already offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking TN visa roles. It filters Senior Designer positions by employers with recent visa filings, so you spend time on companies already experienced with work visa sponsorship rather than educating hiring teams from scratch.
Can a Mexican Senior Designer use the same border-entry process as a Canadian?
No. Mexican nationals must apply for TN status through a U.S. consulate abroad rather than at a land port of entry. The consular appointment must be scheduled in advance, and wait times vary by location and season. Plan for at least several weeks between receiving a job offer and your consular interview, and negotiate your start date accordingly.
