Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Senior UX UI Designer
Frame your portfolio around systems thinking
TN officers evaluating a Senior UX UI Designer role want evidence of specialty-occupation-level work. Organize your portfolio to show design systems, scalable component libraries, and cross-functional decisions, not just finished screens.
Verify your degree maps to the role
TN approval depends on a direct link between your degree field and the job duties. A degree in graphic design supporting a systems-focused UX role can draw scrutiny; request a detailed job description from your employer that aligns duties to your credential before filing.
Target employers experienced with visa sponsorship
Tech companies, enterprise software firms, and large financial institutions have experience with visa sponsorship and understand the work visa process. Look for employers with recent visa filings in your field, then focus your outreach there. Many of these companies are familiar with supporting international talent and can help facilitate the TN visa process, which requires an employer support letter and presentation of your credentials at a U.S. port of entry.
Negotiate the offer letter before signing
The TN offer letter is a legal document, not a formality. Make sure it specifies your exact job title, the relevant TN category, your degree requirement, and that duties are stated at the senior specialist level, not generalized management language.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers fast
Searching broadly for UX roles wastes time on employers who won't sponsor. Migrate Mate filters Senior UX UI Designer jobs by TN visa sponsorship willingness, so your applications go to employers already prepared to support the filing process.
Prepare for Canadian border vs. consular processing differences
Canadians can apply for TN status directly at a U.S. port of entry the day of hire with the full document package. Mexican citizens must schedule a consular interview and account for wait times, so your employer needs to build that lead time into the start date.

Find Senior UX UI Designer JobsSenior UX UI Designer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior UX UI Designer role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes, but the classification depends on how the role is structured. TN visa approvals for design roles typically fall under the Computer Systems Analyst or Engineer category, which requires a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Roles focused on interaction design or product systems with engineering overlap tend to qualify more cleanly than generalist creative roles. Your employer's job description needs to reflect specialty-level duties tied to your credential.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for Senior UX UI Designer jobs?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, so you can start a role as soon as the petition is approved or you clear the border. H-1B requires entering an annual lottery with roughly a one-in-four selection rate. For Canadians especially, TN is a faster and more predictable path. Mexican citizens face an annual TN allocation, but it's still processed through the consulate without a lottery.
What documents does my employer need to provide for TN sponsorship?
Your employer must provide a signed offer letter that names the TN visa category, describes your duties at the specialist level, states the degree requirement for the role, confirms the position is temporary in nature, and lists your start date and compensation. For Canadian applicants crossing at the border, this letter goes directly to Customs and Border Protection. For Mexican applicants, it accompanies the DS-160 and consular package.
Where can I find Senior UX UI Designer jobs that already offer TN visa sponsorship?
Most generic job boards don't filter by visa sponsorship type, so you end up applying to roles where the employer hasn't thought through TN at all. Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN-sponsored roles, letting you search Senior UX UI Designer positions where employers are already open to sponsoring Canadian and Mexican professionals, which saves significant time in the job search.
Can I switch employers on a TN visa if I get a better offer?
Yes. TN status is employer-specific, so changing jobs requires your new employer to file a fresh TN petition or, for Canadian citizens, you can reapply at the border with the new offer letter. There's no formal portability provision as with H-1B, so you generally need to complete the new filing before your start date with the new employer. Plan the transition timeline with both employers to avoid a gap in work authorization.
