Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Field Nurse Case Manager
Verify your RN license transfers cleanly
Canadian provincial RN licenses and Mexican nursing credentials must be verified through your target state's Board of Nursing before any employer can support TN visa sponsorship. Start the endorsement process early; some states take 8 to 12 weeks.
Target employers with active case management programs
Health systems, insurance companies, and workers' compensation firms that run structured case management departments are far more likely to have handled TN filings before. Avoid small outpatient practices with no prior sponsorship history.
Clarify the TN letter requirements upfront
Your employer's offer letter must explicitly state your role as a Registered Nurse performing case management functions. A generic case manager title without nursing language can trigger a CBP denial at the border, even with valid credentials.
Search TN-ready roles through Migrate Mate
Filtering for employers with documented TN and nurse hiring history saves weeks of cold outreach. Migrate Mate surfaces Field Nurse Case Manager roles tied to employers who have sponsored Canadian and Mexican nurses before.
Prepare a credential equivalency package for Mexican applicants
Mexican nursing degrees must demonstrate equivalency to a U.S. bachelor's or associate degree in nursing. Compile your transcripts, a credential evaluation letter, and CGFNS documentation before approaching employers to avoid delays during the offer stage.
Negotiate who files and when before accepting the offer
Canadian applicants can apply for TN status directly at a port of entry the same day, but Mexican applicants must schedule a consular appointment, which can add weeks. Confirm your employer understands the timeline difference before you sign.
Field Nurse Case Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Field Nurse Case Manager qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, but only under the Registered Nurse category, not a standalone case management category. Your offer letter must describe duties grounded in nursing practice, such as clinical assessment, care coordination, and patient advocacy. If the role is framed purely as administrative case management without nursing functions, CBP may deny TN status at the border.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Field Nurse Case Manager roles?
TN has no lottery, no annual cap for Canadians, and Canadian applicants can gain status at a port of entry without waiting for USCIS to adjudicate a petition. H-1B visa requires employer sponsorship through a competitive lottery and can take months. The tradeoff is that TN does not lead directly to a green card and must be renewed with each job change.
Where can I find Field Nurse Case Manager jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists Field Nurse Case Manager roles specifically filtered for employers with TN visa sponsorship history, so you're not spending time approaching companies that have never navigated the process. Searching by role and visa type there is a faster path than sending cold applications to employers unfamiliar with TN requirements.
What documents do I need to apply for TN status as a nurse?
You need a signed employer offer letter that describes your nursing duties, proof of Canadian or Mexican citizenship, your RN license valid in the state where you'll work, and your nursing degree or diploma. Mexican applicants also need a DS-160, a visa interview appointment, and documentation showing their degree meets U.S. equivalency standards through an organization like CGFNS.
Can I switch from one case management employer to another on TN status?
Yes, but TN status is employer-specific, so you can't start the new job until your TN for that employer is approved. Canadian nurses can apply at a port of entry when changing jobs, which means same-day status in many cases. Mexican nationals must go through consular processing again, so plan for a gap of several weeks between roles.
