Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Medical Director Oncology
Verify your medical credentials align with TN
TN classification for physicians requires a valid license in your home country plus proof of qualification to practice in the destination U.S. state. Gather your medical degree, board certifications, and provincial or national license before approaching employers.
Target academic medical centers and NCI-designated cancer centers
Health systems affiliated with National Cancer Institute-designated programs routinely hire foreign-trained oncology directors and have established TN sponsorship workflows. Their legal teams understand physician TN requirements, which shortens the negotiation and filing process considerably.
Search TN-sponsoring oncology employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Medical Director Oncology roles by employers with recent visa filings, so you're applying where visa sponsorship experience already exists rather than educating hiring managers about the process from scratch.
Clarify state medical licensure timing with your employer
You don't need a full U.S. medical license before the TN petition is approved, but many hospitals require licensure before your start date. Negotiate a realistic start date that accounts for state medical board processing, which can run 90 to 120 days.
Confirm the employer will file by mail, not at the border
Medical Director Oncology roles often involve credentialing and background checks that delay start dates, making USCIS mail-in petitions the safer filing route. Canadian citizens can also use port-of-entry TN admission, but that approach doesn't give you a stamped approval document most hospitals require for privileging.
Document your specialty scope to prevent RFE delays
USCIS scrutinizes physician TN petitions where the role blends administrative leadership with direct patient care. Your offer letter should explicitly describe oncology-specific duties and confirm the position requires a physician's medical expertise, not just general management skills.

Find Medical Director Oncology JobsMedical Director Oncology TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Medical Director Oncology role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a licensed physician with oncology expertise. The TN physician category covers roles where medical training and licensure are prerequisites, not incidental. Roles that are purely administrative without requiring an active medical license may face additional USCIS scrutiny, so your offer letter needs to clearly articulate the clinical and scientific basis of the position.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for this role?
For Canadian citizens, TN is almost always faster and more predictable than H-1B. There is no lottery, no annual cap, and no multi-month wait. H-1B requires a cap-subject registration and can take six months or more before a start date is possible. Mexican nationals face a TN allocation limit, but TN processing is still substantially faster than H-1B for roles that qualify under the physician category.
How can I find Medical Director Oncology jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by TN visa sponsorship and target Medical Director Oncology roles at employers who have already demonstrated willingness to sponsor. That filters out the dead ends you'd encounter applying broadly and then discovering a hospital's legal team has never handled a TN petition.
Can a Mexican physician get TN sponsorship for an oncology director role?
Yes, but the process differs from the Canadian path. Mexican TN applicants must apply at a U.S. consulate in Mexico rather than at a port of entry, and Mexico's TN allocation is limited. Consular processing timelines vary, so you and your employer should build at least 60 to 90 days of lead time into your start date planning to account for appointment availability and document review.
What documents does my employer need to file a TN petition for this role?
Your employer needs a detailed offer letter specifying your oncology duties, your compensation structure, and confirmation that the role requires a licensed physician. You'll need to supply your medical degree, home-country license, and any U.S. or Canadian board certification in oncology. USCIS or the CBP officer reviews whether the duties, your qualifications, and the TN physician category description all align before approving.
